Victorian Open Titles

Sorry for not posting sooner - but here we go.
Given that we are nearly half way through the year - I think we should kick off with the Victorian Open Titles - which means anyone can nominate, including interstate.

The date will be Sunday 8th July (Saturday 7th will be scheduled if we get a large field). At this point it will be in our Grand Prix room, with tickets being sold by us here for entry. I need to discuss entry fees etc with Brett - but at this point this is 'GO'.

The Victorian State Titles Round 1 07/08 (Victorian residents only) is proposed on Sunday September 30th (again the 29th will be put aside if we have a larger field)

These dates ae in keeping with my previous posts about 4 main events here in Victoria each year.

If you wish to nominate - please send an email to - mark@sidetracked.com.au

I will try and post entry fees etc on here in the next few days - but register your interest NOW.

Thanx - Mark

Hi Mark,

You might not have realised, but BattleShed: Barrage in the Garage (NSW event) is on that weekend, now interstaters are looking at heading to NSW, I think it's a bit of a clash on dates. All i can see is that it will affect the number of bots at both events Confused

I know the Battleshed guys are already having a hard time getting people to confirm their entries, this date clash might just cause more hassles to them, as they are putting in a fair amount of effort to pull this event of Smile

It has been brought to my attention that there is a clash of dates. Unfortunatley - as we are normally chock-a-block with ankle-biters having Birthday Parties - the mid-point of School Holidays is the only weekend that we can hold an event. Sorry if this clashes but I dont have the luxery of having more dates to choose from at this point.

I have an idea hold the event in the october holidays that way at least interstate compeditors can compete ,because if you hold it on the july break numbers could be low ,and not good for buisness

September 30 is effectively September / October school holidays - it crosses both months.

I think that chrisjon is referring to changing the state event in September with the open event in July.

Just wondering if Sept 30 is still on for the Sidetracked Vic title event?
At the builders get together today Daniel invited us to his house for a “Garage” fight. Sept 22 was mentioned as a possible date.

I don't know if Mark from Sidetracked checks our forum all that often, I've got his email address so I just shot off an email to him asking him this question.

I've just found out that the 22nd of September is the 1st day of the school holidays Sad So traffic going down towards Phillip Is will be pretty heavy.

Although the holidays start on the same day, Trafic only gets heavy when you get close to Phillip Island, ( anderson roundabout onwards. )
check out Jamjerrup on the map its 20 min south of cranbourne.

Hey guy's Mark asked my to post his reply on the forum.

"Hi

I am open minded about this. If the builders would prefer a garage event - then I will hold back my events until January with the National Robowars Title.

I am happy to host an event on September 30 if you want.

Cheers"

So what do we think?

Can we do 2 events in September?

or do we just hold an event at Danny's?

We would need a reasonable number of starters for a Sidetracked event and that’s not far off.

Rotwang Robotics can get to both but I don’t really won’t to have to turn up with too many extras to pad out a sidetracked event with the lightweight action in November to prepare for.
