The XU1 drills are where most of us started and probably still are Razz

There's probably a heap of other stuff, see if you can't get to an event near you and drop in for a look and a Q & A session

edit: oh... just realised your near me Razz Well events are in short supply over this way, but we could probably catch up sometime Wink

XU1 cordless drills last i checked anyway where basicly non existant DSE's 18v light blue seams to be what a few people are using insted and the hacking guide is the same i beleve at $30 each The fact angus recently posted looking for cheeper drills and no one responded makes me think that they might be about the best option atleast that i have found. Kmart sometimes have 14.4v drills on sale for cheeper.

Yeah I couldn't find any under 30 bucks. However... Oatley electronics are selling their 100W scooter setups seriously cheap at the moment, but they are based in NSW so shipping might be a pain. Add me on msn if you like mate i'll answer all your questions stupid or not. Wink

I agree, the Oatley scooter deal is a top place to start - they are very tough and easy to control.

Another good source of info is the US RFL forum and web site. Here is their "What is a combat bot?" page: http://www.robogames.net/combat_inside.pdf

If you are on a budget, Google "Dumpster diving" and find the nearest industrial area - you are sure to come up with some metal and plastic to make a frame.
