i made a big mistake today and took the clutch off my drill motor and now i cant make it work without those grub screw things i dont have anywhere close by where i can get them and i was just wondering is there anything else that works?

You won't be needing the clutch to work, it just gets in the way for a combat bot. Most Bunnings stores have the M5 grub screws you need. Nothing much else fits, unless you want to cut some M5 screws down and make your own slot-headed grub screws - not really worth it IMHO

I have left the ball bearings in my clutch in my robot. Do you still have the bearings?

Specialist nut and bolt places are generally the best suppliers of grub screws.

the bearings sorta exploded everywhere so ive lost about 3 but i guess i check bunnings again for grub screws. its too bad the damn thing needs either grubs or clutch to wrok

by the way why does it have to be grub screws? just wondering what they do to it

You could try an "O" Ring.... as shown here.

that o-ring method is novel, it also stops all the grease from escaping, something I have let happen, so I just fill them up with oil each time I take it out for a run

ok either your bunnings is quite crap or your not looking hard enough.

In the bolts section where they sell them small packets of bolts both imperial and metric they should have packets of m5 grub screws

If not then l=maybe look into either a local boltshop or worst case simple order them online from a place like ausbolts or something

My local bunnings never had them, only the huge ones do. Small hardware stores have boxes of assorted ones and can usualy source you 10 or so m5's.

Ive also been to a bunnings that didnt hapen when i went i do like the o-ring idea for something that is not very big torque.
EDIT: i had to go to bunnings today anyway so while there i looked and the one i went to does not have them where andrew said or anywhere for that mater in the bolt/screw section of the shop in m5.

If you are realy stuck just do like i do and get a bolt that will thread in the holes tight - hold it in a vice between two bits of pine cut 5 mm pieces of it you might need a couple of bolts then file the ends a bit tapered that you are going to screw in - turn each 5mm piece over and cut a slot about 2 mm deep in the center with a hack saw to use a screw driver in - you might find it easier to cut each slot first before you cut the 5mm piece off the bolt as its easier to hold also cut the head off the bolt first to make it easier to work with in the vise -before using them get another bolt the same thread and screw it in the holes of the clutch first and take it back out -- this will thread them for you and make it a bit easier starting the home made grub screws with a flat bladed screw driver hope this helps--- cheers
