I used a dremel to rough up the surface, the bottom bits need a serious iron, 80W is what I used, taking time for it to warm up good between each cell. Flood it with hardcore proper solder! None of that 'no clean' flux stuff..

With those two Ebay sources of M1’s the value for money equation seems to have shifted back to the A123’s again.
I have 12 of them coming from the Hong Kong vender.

New vendor? Zero feedback and picture doesn’t show part number, no sign of weld marks.
Question

According to the EV people, most of the A123 cells coming from china are either second hand (a year or so of use) or old stock from when Dewalt packs were manufactured there. They are now made in the USA, so any ex Dewalt A123s from china will have been sitting around for a fair while.

There are also copy A123 cells which apparently have the same specs (obviously still being manufactured there but not for Dewalt)

Just got 12 from Hong Kong. Solder up a pack as soon as possible, various other priorities.

The look genuine to me, out of a dewalts pack, welded tabs torn of.

Question is how long will they be available and will they get cheaper.
Might get some more just in case.

Also got the Imax b8. Happy with it so far, haven’t totally worked out all the features yet, probably never will but it works.

Couple of blems on heat sink and loose piece of plastic was rattling around inside it so possibly factory second.

Lots of 100 now and more than 10 of them. Still thinking of converting the Gemini to electricity Brett.
