As long as the BR600 works with the DX5e, I'd get it instead of the AR since it's ten bucks cheaper. _________________ It seemed like a good idea on paper...

The DX5 is DSM2 {whatever that means} The BR6000 ? Don’t think so.
The DX6i is DSM2 and they have issues working with BR6000’s.
Probably no problem but I suggest you wait until a few are battle tested.
or spend the extra $10 _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

So any views on the radio system? Once i get that and another motor the unarmoured robot is finished .
And we have thought of a name for the robot: Rambo-T. I guess we'll be sticking with this for our rambot and hopefully get some fights done.
So yeah, what do people think of the Spektrum DX5e? Worth buying as the only radio system ill ahve for the next few robots

The DX5e works fine with the BR600 as I just found out, so that seems to be the best choice right now. _________________ It seemed like a good idea on paper...

but didnt people report the dx6i work well with the br6000 until it was tested in a fight?
personally if i was going to buy a TX/RX combo now i would buy a dx5e and an AR5000 as it appears to failsafe correctly from what i have read about it
Edit: AR500 not AR5000 sorry for the typo

Hey all,
The AR500 (not 5000) is a DSM2, and as Woody found in the specs of the RC when there is a signal loss it doesn't send anything to channels 2 to 5. That means the failsafes of the devices behind the RX can failsafe, either with a builtin failsafe like most speed controllers do, or a separate failsafe in between.
Channel one failsafes the throttle just like the BR6000 does on all channels on a preset value during binding.
The issue with the DX6i and the BR6000 is that it will take a long long time to reconnect, sometimes it even takes a couple of restarts of the transmitter to reconnect. You just can't have that in the arena.

well theres been some progress, frame made with armour and wheels all mounted. Just need to find a way to mount the batteries and electronics and order a radio then were set.
**note to self: angle grinding is not an accurate way of cutting lengths of metal, especially when its your first time. And it hurts when you cut your own hand **
Just a question though, a power light is needed for safety and all, but we have no idea what we should be using, not sure if we should get an LED or whether there are better ways of lighting.
Thanks, Collo

LED neon tubes under the robot. Or black light tubes with those glowing blue strips. I used them in Sidewinder and looked cool at night and passed inspection but all the lights in the arena ruined the effect.

Robot has almost been completed, just need our friend to help us weld everything together, Everything. Decided on the Hobby King Transmitter just need to order it and some LEDs. Probably going to remake the battery packs, using solder this time not a hot glue gun.
Decided to rename Rambo-T to
Asymmetrical Offence
. This is due to hand cut everything which leaves only 3 wheels touching the ground at one time and misfitting frame sections, aswell as crooked framing and armour. But you dont need a pretty robot do you?
Other then that everything looks like it will work and we will get some photos up after welding next week.

We need a charger for our batteries but aren't sure what we should get. Currently we have two 8cell packs made up of drill batteries, so NiCd. Buying the hobbycity transmitter so if we can buy from there it would be much easier.

get any charger that can do at least 20 cell nicad/nimh and 7 cell a123 / lipoly. up to 5 amps is probably good. theres a couple of cheap ones thatll do that under $100 i think.
andrews icharger blew up at melbourne so i dunno how good those are

TDT is Aaron? Just looking at the specs of the Triton and it says input Voltage: 11-15V. Do we need some adaptor or something in between the power point and the charger? And we are interested in buying the Triton.
