@Shreddy: Leaf spring was one found at the dump, just hacked the flattest part of it off. No idea how much they weigh, I'll worry about weight once I've got it translation around the floor.

@Glen: Tooth sits around 10-15mm off the floor. Might slot the mounting point to allow high adjustment yet.

Still gotta see if I have weight for the "uber tooth" Smile

Meltyboard works!

Just need to wire it into the robot tomorrow and start calibrating the code to suit the setup. Might have a video up in the next few days.

Epically behind at the moment, still haven't got the wiring done as I've had to make a few changes to things. Was having an issue with a decent idea for mounting the batteries and electronics, which is why I haven't progressed much on wiring the sucker up.

However, have finally settled on an idea to mount everything and I might use the idea for other robots in the future. Basically got my hands on a bunch of high density closed cell foam (Same as the blue camping mattresses everyone uses, but thicker) and will be layering it to fill the entire interior of the robot. The only things that won't be mounted in this foam will be the drive train and the whyachi switch.

So hopefully tonight, I'll have everything mounted and some of the wiring done, maybe some photos if I remember Smile

This is pretty easy to do, just need to use the soldering iron to start carving trenches for wires to run in.

Epic rats nest wiring, will just duct tape most of it to the motors and jam the lid on to keep it in place.

Spinning, but not translating too well Confused Working on what the problem is, one drive has started to bind, looks like a bearing block might have shifted in an impact. Last resort will be to retro fitting everything back into the old 1 wheel version and run 40v to get the speed and spin up. to a decent level.

It's gonna be a long night Rolling Eyes

Found out why the drive on one side locked up. A collar on the pinion gear that holds the gear from popping out of the bearing broke off and went into the armature and the jammed the whole show up. Dinged up a few of the leaded plates on the armature, so I have removed the motor and left the mountings and the bearing block to run the wheel as a castor. This seems to work fine when spinning, and works just like the 1 wheel version, but spins up on the spot instead of eliptically wobbling around till it gets up to speed. Now that I'm back to 1 drive motor, the voltage is going up to 39.6v like in the testing after RoboWars.

Found half the problem with the translation not working, I found that somehow the model programming for MBX in the spectrum had activated some wierd ass mixing of several channels, and I couldn't remove it (I can't find the manual to read how), so I made a new model settings for it and it seems to have fixed half that problem. Just need to work on calibrating the parameters of the accelerometer now to get the heading LED to work correctly.

Things are looking less bleak, so hopefully tomorrow I'll have it running right, I'll bring the old version just in case Smile

Tooth held up fine, it has a little blunt spot where I thin Bender hit it head on. Really need a lot more combat testing to find out if it will hold up for a full event.

Summary of MBX @ Ideas Festival

Now aiming to get 0.1 running properly for the QRSC event in May. Going to cut up the remains of 0.2's hardox armor and weld it onto the box frame of 0.1 to beef the frame up, and bring it up closer to the weight limit (only 10.8kg).

Was happy with how it runs on the higher voltage, Stainless Steel Rat had a few good hits on it against the arena wall when the SSR jammed on, and it just bounced around the arena without slowing down. If I can get it running like that in combat it should prove most interesting.

0.2b will be brushless powered with a new translation method, probably scheduled for debut RoboWars 7. Taking my time on this one (Solidwork CADs for most of it), rushing 0.2 was 90% the cause of it being so fail.

Thanks to the SSR group buy, I got MBX running again today. Not after a few dramas though, the winch motor that took the flogging from the fused on SSR seems to have melted the insulator washer between the comutator and bush, and when I first fired it up, it spun rather slow while giving off a lot of smoke Sad So swapped over the spare motor and it ran fine.

I took some video because none of my other videos show a much of it actually driving, and it hasn't had very many battles where it functioned correctly to prove it. So I got some clips of it actually driving around the garage, still a bit sketchy as I'm running the manual header code at the moment. I was going to have the accelerometer working this weekend, but I've left it in a box at my parents place, so need to pick that up next weekend to get it going Rolling Eyes

Anyway, proof that it does work Razz
