It’s the brushless motors coping with the heat that worries me.
We have never had a problem with either type of connector and we’ve smoked fans and scooters using these connectors without the plastic showing any sign of melting.
Were not intending to load things up or running them as hard as Glen or Andrew.
Might get one of these, I can feel the heat after a very short test run no load. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

looking slick mr stott
in orbit i always geared em nicely to where the motors themselves ran very well, only things that have killed em for me in past have been either weopon blade mounting bending causing disc to hit pulley and killing the motor or in the case of orbit v bender last jan a bad connection on one of the motor wires
best of luck with it and hope to see you in the arena at battleshed if not robowars next jan _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Thanks Andrew, yes, didn’t realize why your motor played up in the bender fight.
Have to watch the video again.
Lost a phase hmm. Something else to be careful of.
What went wrong, one of the bullet connectors popping apart? _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

yeah the join from wire to bullet connector failed horribly
when i found it out and resoldered it worked perfect again _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

i think he means the solder in the bullet connector broke off ;p
the ones that come with the scorpion are wicked though. there such a crazy tight fit and there so easy to solder. kinda pointless to use polarised connectors on a brushless motor anyway haha. especially if you might have to replace it.
so much easier to use the bullet connectors make sure there the collet style with the little rubber ring at the bottom though. dont use the garbage solid metal types that hobby city supplies. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

So it didn’t burn the motor out, that’s good, thought sitting stalled might cook a winding. _________________ Satisfaction is proportional to effort and results.

That does look like a good range; which version will you get? I wonder what the "shutdown" at over current detection really means? Hope it doesn't actually shut down the controller

well im gunna get the proper 100 amp version with the heatsink. just as soon as HC send the refund for the old one. good deal considering the two are exactly the same price.
they only started selling them late august so there isnt much info around on them. but i hope it just clamps the current at that level like the kforce one.

The 100A model gives a good safety margin and for the price of a Kforce, its a great deal. Given that it has a good heatsink and limiting, I wonder if its possible to use a lower rated model? I could really use the smaller dimensions of the 50A model in Chuck and since I couldn't make the motor draw more than 25A, a 50A ESC with protection looks tempting. The data logging wouldn't hurt either!

i reckon so. the burst current (wonder if it literally means burst ) is 90 amps + if it does current limiting it would be fairly bullet proof.
just need to make a PC interface battery charger now and i can just keep the robot plugged in the laptop all the time
