If you drop it in i could take it to work and do it as long as the pulley boss will fit in the chuck at work cos it only fits about two and a half inch round in it.

Unless you really wanted it done for free, its cheaper to spend $20 on a tap and a cheap wrench; new knowledge = priceless!

i dont have a drill press and i have no idea how to measure it all up properly as i just...well...lack the knowledge and experience and would prefer someone else to do it as it will be better.

Tap wrench I use regularly cost $5, invaluable tool to have. I'd recommend 1/4" or 6mm tapered taps, they're the easiest size and type to use for thru hole tapping.

Fair enough; get someone to do it, but get them to show you what they are doing. After doing stuff for Andrew & Glen over here, I let them loose on the workshop for a week while I was on holidays - stuff got made and nothing got broken, so I seem to have transferred a bit of knowledge, which was a good feeling and a big part of what this sport is all about Very Happy

one of the bigger parts of getting into robots (or just building in general i guess) is making use of what you have to get the job done. sometimes you cant do things perfect or the "right way" cause you dont have the right tools.

if you dont have a tap (there cheap as anyway you can get a m5/6/8 tap plus wrench from bunnings for like $25 last time i looked and youll need them to build robots) you can just drill a hole straight through the lot with your hand drill and use nuts and washers on the other side.

you should probably put up some kind of a design so everyone can see what you actually need done. as in the entire weapon assembly.

if you cant find anyone to do it down there you can post it up and ill do it worst case.
