Dry power. CO2 ones are a lot more than $20.

You don't remember that one I emptied?
look for the stripe. White = dry powder, Black = CO2.

There's a heap of blue-tooth based short-range versions. Search the market for "arduino" and you will a heap of remote-arduino-control-via-bluetooth.

Probably good enough for Robots or short range devices, if you are thinking of controlling real RC aircraft with it, you might need more range than BT can offer.

you could lean on steve or aaron (or anyone else with microcontroller savvy) to mod the arduino sketch (should be simple) to feed serial data to the servo controller or real R/C Radio transmitter module.

If you were thinking more of doing it exactly the way the Ifly does, having a widget that receives and converts the serial-data from the phones usb or bluetooth into the PPM (Pulse Position Modulation) signal that you need to feed into a Tx module (works on the same idea as a Buddy or Instructor cable to link two Tx's), then you just need some serial-data-channel-string into PPM sequence code in the Receiving Micro.

If you scruff around the market starting from the BT remotes, you might find someones already done it. I didnt in the few minutes I spent surveying the field, but it might be out there amongst all the android-electronics hackers. Maybe look at projects based on the the Sparkfun IOIO board or the "Android Open Accessory Development Kit"
