Rofl.... maybe by surface...

I think considering both banebots and RMP both are terribly unfriendly to OS purchase, and mcmaster doesn't even consider it, something might be worth looking at in future for sure! Certainly only if there's enough demand. Laughing

And yeah I can't vouch for VXB's quality, I bought them for my spindle so only time will tell. Laughing

LOL you did mean trans as in transmission?

Example Jegs want to charge like 3k to send an engine over here but other companies say they have shippers and can ship the same engine for around $400

Just wondered if this was the same thing.

I'm looking for a single stage planetary gearbox, with low reduction ratio.

Needs to be about 60mm diameter and handle up to 6000rpm input and 5Nm or so.

Anyone seen something like that? Smile

The Banebots P80 gearbox might work - available in 3:1 and 4:1 as a single stage.

The currie gearbox would probably be ideal but as thats only surplus now I think so not really an option for long term production.

For what marathon wanted I was pretty sure you would need to make a custom solution. P80 might be OK but looks a bit small if you are going for reliability. Probably going to have to get custom versions made from out of china.

Ah well grab some of the currie ones.

I think they fit on 300watt+ scooter motors and give you a pretty compact setup. Aaron & Angus have some not sure where they got em from.

That Whyachi planetary gearbox looked too large - Terry might be able to do special ratios for you. What sort of reduction are you going for?

@ Timeh: Your eight 3/4" Shaft collars arrived today Very Happy. At an exchange rate of $1.046, they cost a *huge* $13.31. If you can PM me an address, I will drop them in the mail tomorrow and let you know the total with shipping.

yeah those are actually for another use, which would need a large reduction.

Ideally for the first one a 1.5:1 or 2:1 reduction would do the job (it's an add-on for an existing gearbox) but the shape really only suits planetary gears.
