Very nice work! Cool

Looking at the drive motors I can see some possible issues:

How are you going to grt the motors in & out - do the 2 bearing guide blocks detach? I find that getting motors out for servicing is a big feature in the pits and the fewer screws yo have to remove, the better!

You might look at getting rid of the inner bearing block - it doesn't look essential to me.

Having a tensioner on those long drive belts will make them more reliable - they are sure to stretch after use.

What is holding the axle splines into the end of the gearbox. If its just the timing pulley, you might want to add something else to make sure the axle cannot be pulled out.

I'm guessing you have already thought of all that, but it doesn't hurt to ask...

looks like its a double bearing block and theres no support on the outside of the wheel so the armour is free to move and get bent without binding anything in the drive up.

guessing its all one piece in the cad cause its easier to do it in solidworks that way but that would be awesome on so many levels if it was all one piece Laughing

hope the waterjetters give you the cut out sections. looks like theres a few kilos worth of metal youd get back Razz

Thanks guys.

Its all one piece, until I'm done with the final shape then I'll chop it into individual bits. You might notice there's room there for all the screws.

Double bearing block for overhung wheels and yes capturing the axle is always a pain and set screws don't cut it.

@ this stage for me its about overall weight and design. Once I have a bot I'm happy with and it's underweight THEN i'll look into each area in more detail and refine(that frame is almost 2.5X stronger than it needs to be). I'll will post all updates here...

Thanks again guys, cheers.

The M1 cells fit back into the bot now, which is great. That reminds me, I can now start building 6 cell packs. I have 20 cells so 3 packs would be good.

Looks good. It would take a lot of deformation before the flipper arm would jam in that front plate.

That looks very tough to me! The only suggestion might be to change the rows of mounting screws for brackets welded to the back of the wedge - screws are hard to get out after their heads are smeared by a spinner.

Thanks guys. Screw holes will be counter sunk, and It looks like it will be about 4mm titanium($$$). What do you think about 4mm ti Nick? How do you think that would hold up? Its @ a pretty low angle too.

4mm would be enough if it is angled like in your design. Angus had some 5mm stuff and Jolt hardly managed to scratch it. The main thing you need to worry about is a spinner catching the leading edge of the wedge and high centering you. It would need massively thick Ti to prevent that problem.

I'll start the last major design feature tomorrow, the shock mounted armor.

Hopefully my aluminum for the ram will arrive tomorrow too.

Does your four bar linkage mechanism stop the travel of the ram?

I look forward to seeing your progress.
