should still have the minimum time between your last fights anyway whatever that is at a worst case scenario. 30 or 40 minutes i think?

2 packs wouldnt be a bad idea though. specially if those are nicads. just dont take up all the space in the fridge trying to keep them cool tho cause ill need to throw my batteries in there too Very Happy haha

2 packs I have, am trying to complete a third but have about a dozen dead batteries that I need to bring a couple back to life from.
So far have tried the hammer method and the electric shock method, why does that sound like torture.

These packs are made from 2.4 aH nicads from that big group buy years ago.
Have to look at new batteries I thinks

OK late name change. Robots changing a bit.

Progress is slow but moving along. It will be driving tomorrow leaving a few days to make a wedge. Wiring is done but has me wondering how to activate the switch.
It was too tall to mount vertical so had to go horizontal.

http://www.robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=1519

Just wondering if anyone has had to do something similar before.
What I need to work out is to have some arm at a 90 degree bend so I can activate the switch as if it where vertical. -

While I am asking - what is the norm for covering up holes in motors, would like them to breath - what are people using?

put a flange of some kind on the end of the switch, drill a hole in front of the switch through the armour and just use a flathead screwdriver to pop it on and off?

Just let me know the size of the plate you need and I'll organise to send it down Smile
Should be able to keep the spinners at bay with a chunk of it sitting up the front

Were you happy with the tracks in the arena? What sort of chain did you use? Are you planning any upgrades?

I was happy that the tracks survived an event.
The tracks themselves have room for improvement. These tracks where not made for robowars, they where literally taken off my big tank and broken into smaller pieces and than a body was made to drive them. So not an optimal set of tracks for a flat floor but they are at least tough.

Am just using regular roller chain Philip. These 2 tracks weigh 3.6 kilos.
I have already started on 2 new tracks since robowars. Each track uses a different size chain but similar design
The main areas of improvement are more power, more speed, more traction, less friction and reduce size.

So basically am working on a faster, smaller more powerful version and one which is as small as possible so it can have a weapon possibly a spinner.

So yes plenty of upgrades and 2 new tracked robots in progress.

Started some updates yesterday, looked through my scrap for steel to use to bring the front of the robot out. i have to create space for bigger controller and more batteries so have to redo the bulkhead unfortunately.
Good news is once this is done amps and voltage go up, yay.

http://www.robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=1521

The front is the base from a car jack, will reshape the frame so its basically a hollow wedge and then sit a piece of hardox over the front sitting on rubber.
Am hoping to reduce enough weight to fit 20 C cells for plenty of juice. Thats whats in the pic and will make the battery area for that size anyway.

Hey Philip, not much done for months.
Have purchased some Dewalt motors and have A123,s etc.

My gut feeling is Locust would only last one event if that due to the GMC,s so will most likely start from scratch and build a transmission around the Dewalts using lasercutting.
Probably start again next week, weathers starting to change.
