as in self-destruction??

The blade is a homedepot item $7 from an edger....seems to be made from AR plate, not hardened , but a bit tough to drill. This bot will be a wheel steeler, not a big ke hitter

So the destruction might be limited to foam, rubber and plastic....lol not made to go head to head with a big hardened drum, but if it explodes, then I'm only out $7....(I hope Razz )

It is quick tho...wouldn't you say?

Bench testing the undercutter's weapon, it currently spins at 6900 rpm while drawing around 7 amps.

Everything sounds good, no heat ,vibration or any other wierd stuff!!

I am going to machine another main body, which will allow for better weight distribution and then off to the test pad....

The horizontal is preatty much done....Now that it weighs 3 lbs. it drives much better. I need to repair my battle box, so I can hit somethings with the weapon!!

I have a second bot almost ready as well..it will be the INTRO bot, or thr least expensive of the group.....

Should be ready in a day or so!!

Next up....some action video!!

The wedge is on hold, in favor of what I call 'La Caja China' a basic box with offset wheels and ...... well you'll see.

a three way rumble could include my old highspeed drum bot 'Sting' !!

We are workiong on a cage...for the time being, no rumbles in MY battle box, because the sides are only a foot high?!!

Here is a picture of my entry level 3 pound combat robot. The entire body is chrome moly steel and production units will be heat treated and pretty much indestructable!! Testing is underway, and these will soon be available as kits...Plenty of cool surprises under the hood as well !!

Any comments or feeback is appreciated....

Richard

We decided to rename this bot to 'Caddywhompus'
WIth the offset wheels, and the floppy wedge, it looks well....a bit Caddy and a whole lot of Whompus.....lol
It drives as well as any robot I've seen and driven. I attended a robotics meeting at MLEC today and let a slew of students take it for a test drive....It actually won its first battle by knocking the wheels off of its opponent.
The floppy wedge stays flat onthe floor, even when the bot goes 'Caddy'....
I will be finishing it up with outboard axle supports, more nut bars and then after some more testing, the panels will be off to heat treat along with those from the other wedge (which is still vapor at the moment)
Stay tuned, more to come, some video as well!!

We are picking a battle cage of sorts (no floor or roof???) tomorrow, so maybe some weapon testing or battle video will be coming up soon

My little undercutter is awesome!!

I wonder if anyone has seen this before, I haven't

The undercutter stands up on the wheels and points the blade into the air...this I've seen

But it also landed on the outer face of the left wheel and stayed there...the balde was spinning like a vertical and I could drive the bot around with it perfectly on the sideface of the wheel...!!! It wouldn't flip back down unless I killed the blade???

All I can say is WOW!! It's a real showoff

I need to finish up my battle cage and see if I can get it on video

I'm impressed, but then again, I never drove an undercutter

Re: My little undercutter is awesome!!

This is exactly what my 150g antweight Scarlet does when it gyro's around the arena.
