9V is what phillip used to boost the voltage in his bots.

Finally back to robot building. Feels like an eternity ago i started studying for Melb high test. That and dad forbid me to go near the robot until the exam was over. Did it today. Anyway.

Everything is still the same, but went to alu shop to see what alloys they have, and seems that Marine grade 5083-H131 or 5086-H116 around 3mm would be a good choice. It seems to have good strength-to-weight ratio. Anyone disagree?

Got some work done today. Did all four mounts for the motors. Its a little wonky but will fix it up with washers and grinding stuff down.

(reason that the left is up and right is down is cause the left's back mount is a little lower.)

I hope to get it all working before next term starts (3 weeks)

nice to see some more progress, building one of these things takes longer than you expect the first time, it's steady progress that gets it done Smile

Im confused by this.

How would i boost ths voltage in this to activate the solenoid if i dont it to be like the second way(not through bec) but somewhere close to the load itself.?
If i have it in mode 2 instead of 18v at 27v does that mean that power is taken from the 9v to power the motors too? As i said, im stumped.

Ignore the BEC. All it is saying is that you need *something to power your rx* and that they need to have a *common ground*.

Worry about powering each separately and as long as the ground wire is connected it should be fine.

Just maybe post circuit diagram before hand.

Heres a little sketch. Im highly doubtful that it would work but just wanted you guys's opinion on it. And how i could make it work it it wont.

Does the 9v have to be reversed to work?[/img]

No that is exactly the same as Mode II except you moved the battery location.

You need to connect the -ve of the 9V to the +Ve of the main battery.

Edit* common ground may be confusing in this case... Really only becomes relevant when you are using two separate batteries.
