Won't be able to make it deadlines feb 15th, which are
going to be massive.
However may I encourage Vic beetles to participate for something potentially on March 31st. _________________ Steven Martin

If the beetle thing does go ahead for late March might be worth trying with the sidetracked robowars day a mini beetle comp as well as feathers to A. get vics to build beetles and B. as a tester for the public event in march by what i hear we would want to put on a good show if it goes ahead.
I am out for this event still not back in the country most probably. Ill see if kirsten is interested getting something together. Anyone contacted Matt (nmo) and the other non forum users to gauge availably and stuff. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
if there's beetles in the comp announced by the OP i may be in, otherwise im tentative at best for feathers only _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

well whatever date ill deffs be in.
will have hurricane and possibly a second bot. I have the parts for a second feather lined up but could just as easily make a beetle if there will be enough to make it worth my while.
what I dug up from last time we contacted all vics

Shame some of you cannot make it. Good to hear you'll be back with hurricane, Shreddy, and maybe Daniel will be there.
I dont know of any Vic's who have ants or beetles constructed, so I cant anticipate there will be any there on the day. Its not unusual for us to incorporate a lightweight competition between the mainstream of featherweight fights, so theres no problem to do that for the ants and beetles.
Thanks for sending some emails Shreddy, I have also sent some msgs via Facebook to Neweyn and Waggy linking them to this thread, might be wise to find some phone numbers too, but I dont have any Vic builders numbers, so Ill try get some contacts off Gary or Brett. _________________ My combat robot Robowars on YouTube RotwangRobotics

when i mentioned beetles thats what i meant and main reason if any would be if the event is on for late march steve was in contact with people about. Prep + motivation to compete and put on a good public show for him the next month.
Even if not fighting if the public event in march does come off would be great to have local bots compete and events are a great time to discuss design ideas _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
Sean, is Steve the guy who contacted Brett recently in regards to Robowars putting on a show at a different venue in Melbourne?
I think whats restricting us from fighting at other venues is we have no mobile arena, besides Danny's, but he's fallen off the face of the earth. Possibly if we aren't fighting at that place in Melbourne, maybe we could put some robots out on static display at least.

Nar steve as in Marto on the forums. he contacted the guys who contacted brett about possibly doing the event as a beetle if i am not mistaken. He might be able to provide more information. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.

For beetles we just used some short MDF divider walls and sectioned off a quarter of the featherweight arena. Might be a bit tricker in the hexagonal Sidetracked arena - but something like that will work.
For ants, you could possibly do the same thing, but a dedicated arena would allow the audience a better look at what's happening _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

If you don't have spinners you can fight ants on a table.
