Lol haha i actually had a look at that a few months back. Looks good too and easily assembld. The speeds are good too _________________ Viggy!

It is made of plastic and I would think it would really struggle with anything which isn't really soft. _________________ Steven Martin

i dunno, sounds pretty good for the price
add some CnC and made of win lol
I wouldn't bank on taking off 3mm chips or nothing but it'd get you some decent capabilities at least. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Something to buy the kids in the hope to make them machinists me thinks, I looked into them a while back and they really are fairly guttless...
Still, would have killed to have had one when i was 14/15. _________________ ( •_•)
If you are looking to use it for a Metal lathe or mill, not gonna happen.
2000 RPM is far FAR too fast for most any metal, the fastest I have cut metal on our lathe is 900rpm and that was aluminium. Steel is more like 200 - 500 rpm depending on diameter.
Also our lathe is 550w or ~3/4HP.
That lathe is 30w or ~1/25HP.
It is quite literally, not gonna cut it

uhh the bearing in the head isn't going to do 20K rpm so i presume it has some kind of reduction for lathe mode.
When we mill stuff we do it at 12K rpm for a 6mm ball mill in aluminium.
Thats regarded as slow btw.
we often cut aluminium and steel at fairly high speeds on the lathe.
blue hot chips coming off means your doing it right :->
though not going to happen with a 30W motor but ey, the first thing you make with any machine tool is the upgrades to the machine, stick a 3Kw brushless in it for $50, that'll sort it out. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

I would say its not woth the money, when I was youger I had a mate that had somthing pretty much the same and it only did balsa wood.
this is better if ur after lathe and a mill but they are still pretty crap but it would do a better job.

Yeah we went into Hare and Forbes and saw that one on display. The guy talked us into looking for the c6
I thought the cheaper one looked pretty cool, but he said the c6 was the way to go and that he had never sold one of cheaper ones. He also said we should buy the mill separate, cause apparently you can do more that way. If only he could have seen our home made bodge attempts at lathing and milling on our drill. ha ha.
We didn't have any money at the time so it didn't matter...... but we might soon. would everyone say the extra $700 is worth the extra for the c6? _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts

yeah the c6 combo is what i got, and he's right get them seperate if you have the room.
The cheap one looked flimsy as and it didnt seem as tho you could fit much under the milling head, so i got the c6 happy as with it _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

I have a C2 lathe due to limited space and money at the time. Definately agree that bigger is better if it's at all possible, go it. My C2 gets me by but I would find it painful if i was doing more than occasionally making small aluminium pulleys and hubs. _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

Oh ok cool. Well we will go for that one. If we are ever able to get one????
So no advantage to buying it as the combo other than space saving?
Im thinking if we don't buy it as a combo I might never have the money again to ever get the mill separately. _________________ Miles Blow - Julie Pitts
