The guys are coming around on Sunday the 6th of Feb. All welcome with safety glasses. They expect to turn up at nine which should put them on the water by 10.30. Finish time is slated for 1.30 or 2.00.

Marauder wont be there but the shed floor is available for any non-spinner robots.

Today was fun. There were only two boats but they worked well and battled for about two hours with only two stops for one of the boats to repair bullet holes.

No, unfortunately.

The splashes of the cannon fire look good on video. The listing of the boats as they run for shore full of holes, pumping water as their captains sweat also comes across well.

I needed a Kero or two.

Could I please get some help from a technically minded person. I would like to put some elctronic aids into the warship, Yamato, that I am building for Alex.

The cannons have to fire after a set amount of seconds, 8 seconds for 1/4" and 4 seconds for 3/16". I would like to be able to move one control stick and have all of the cannons fire then, after a four second delay, the 3/16" would fire again, if the stick is still in the fire position.

Range assistance is also allowed to depress the guns. Does anyone have any good ideas for a system that could turn a servo depending on the range of an enemy ship?

You see some guts trying to turn two or three sets of cannons individually while adjusting the depression of each of them and pressing multiple sets of fire buttons all while adjusting their steering and speed. Too hard for me.

my thaught would be this.
put a PIC either on the boat or on the radio
it is now your "weapons officer"
program it with a matrix of elevations and angles for each gun.
IE elevation + angle = X,Y impact point.
build that array for every gun with a decent number of points (how to do that is left as an exercise for the reader)

you then add some smarts to fire controll.
get your 3/16th and use it to fire ranging shots, you use your controlls to specify bearing and range to target.
when you have their range with the small ones, press the button and the big ones open up, and due to your calibration work all aim and fire with the same impact point as your small one, (nice theory eh)

basically all your shots will then try to land on the same point, there should be enough random fluctuation that you get a decent spread.

Sounds good to me. How much would something like that cost? The electronics can aim the gun but are not allowed to shoot the gun.

I have no idea about PIC control. How much data processing can it do? Will they cop being submerged in fresh water? What sort of sensors could find other boats?

There is a Big Gun meet pencilled in for Sunday the third of April. Marauder will be attending. Yamato, Alex's boat, is not yet built. Stuart will be bringing a spare boat for anyone wishing to drive it.

I have just received conformation of the 3/4/05 battle. It is set to start at 10.30. All welcome with safety glasses.

Marauder would like a test if any robots can attend.

Are you looking at us when to say that?

Actually I wanted to ask you some questions about my pneumatic setup so at least one of us will come down for a look. Shame Scarifier Cam isn't water proof.

I went to the camera shop and asked for a kkeerroo twin pack, but they didn't have one.

Will you bring a bot?
