Could you ask them how difficult making one of those pnumatic ball bearing guns are? And how much? Wouldn't mind investigating it! Smile

The day went fairly well. There were four battleships and two freighters on the water. Two battleships and one freighter were sunk.

The battle was videoed. I will post a link when it is up. Don't expect to see it in keerroo time.

There will be a Big Guns day on Saturday the 4/6 at 9.30. It will mainly be testing. There is a meet in Sydney next weekend and the captains don't want to damage their craft by full on battles.

All welcome, but I don't think it will be the most exciting spectacle.

48 Travis Road Logan Village.

The day wasn't too bad. Stuart and Marcus are a good pair of boaties and were on the water quite quickly. Stuart brought his cargo ship as well as his battle ship. Stuart's cargo ship was very neet with a lot of detail in the superstructure. Then Stuart gave the control of his battleship to Alex.

Alex shot holes all throgh the poor defenceless cargo vessel, The crew would have had to man the life boats, if Alex hadn't already blown the life boats off. (very funny to watch) The cargo ship was sunk twice.

It was a fun day with a good bit of action.

Another day is pencilled in for Sunday the 3rd of July.

hey phil, have you got any pictures on how those air gun mechanisms work?

i just started work on a little model gepard tank like those on www.rctankcombat.com and wanted to know how those guys did it (given normal air guns and paintball guns are hard to come by). do they just use compressors and cylinders?

i was just going to use a 120psi compressor, 600mm coke bottle and a little PVC pipe to shoot out the BBs.

You can see how a single barrel gun is made here http://www.southcoastbattlegroup.com/articles.html

You can get the prices of the Clippard parts here http://www.clippard.com/ Clippard also has a distributor finder.

The system would also work well if you were wanting to make a high flow, low pressure flipper.

Let me know if you want more info on any individual parts. I wouldn't mind an excuse to pull apart Alex's guns.

http://www.tankzone.co.uk/pages/gepard.htm thats the thing im looking to make a model of,

cheers for the link, that loader mechanism they use so simple, thatll simplify things no end. im thinking some low pressure say 40-50psi or so should do for some little 3mm diameter or so BBs. the garden valves kero style will do the trick nicely Very Happy

how far do those ships fire?

A poppet valve is one which is activated by being pushed. You might use a servo arm to push a poppet valve and have the outlet of the poppet go to trigger a larger flow air over air valve.

You can see a drawing of an MAV-3 if you use the above clippard link and search for the part.

i like the idea of soldering the copper together so i might have to steal that idea, or ill make a resivour (schpelling?) out of some PVC glued together.

did you tap those threaded nozzles into the resivour yourself or did you just screw them into and undersized hole? that doesnt quite sounds safe?

most of my hobby parts will go into the tank now.. im thinking bofors trinity and using wheels for ease. but hey jeff watch out for those model planes of yours when this thing gets done heh.

The nozles were already attached to the guns when we bought them. I tapped a thread into an old piece of plastic from a sprinkler for one of Marauder's reservoirs. The fitting survived quite well at 180 psi.

I would recomend just tapping your own thread.
