Figured I'd put up some pics of my bots since I've been posting here a bit lately.

These are all of the bots as of Motorama in February.

Moros (FW, bar spinner) needs to have a few parts replaced and the magnets in the Magmotor re-glued.

Nyx (FW-Sportsman, 4wd) has had a torque limiter added to the weapon gearbox to prevent shaft snapping and is getting a 0.063" Ti top for the next event.

Apollyon (12lb, wedge) took almost no damage and is pretty much ready for the next event.

Kobalos (1lb, wedge) is still functional, but I'm planning to build something a bit more fun for the next event.

Motor City Massacre (1lb, clamp/lifter) got pretty beat up and is going to be stripped for parts. It will be replaced by a new kitbots prototype.

Nyx is designed for multiple weapon attachments, here's the ramming/lifting spike version-

The lifter one is cool, would love a robot like that Smile

What are you using for a torque clutch? Looks like some commercial device from what i can see.

Thanks for the compliments.

The torque limiter is a Dalton OSD-225 that I got from McMaster.

I've currently got it set so the dewalt can stall, but it'll slip before it reaches the torque limit of the shaft.

There's a pretty big margin between the limit on the dewalt ~33ftlb and the shaft ~120ftlb, and the limiter is supposedly maxed out at 35ftlb, so it was mostly wrench it down and see what happens. As it is, I can slam the thing into the chassis at full throttle and the shaft doesn't snap(it did without the limiter) and it doesn't free spin once it's at a travel limit.

We took a total of 5 robots to Dragon*Con 2012 in Atlanta, GA. The antweights were Algos, Klazo and Reptar. Apollyon was the 2011 12lb champion and returned to defend the title and Nyx was in its first Dragon*Con and second competitive event.

Algos placed 3rd losing to Segs from Found Objects Robotics in the semi-final after performing perfectly in the first few matches. Algos finished with a 2-1 record.

Klazo fought Tigger, another Found Objects robot 3 times before falling out of the arena pushout while inverted and finished with a 0-1 record.

Reptar swept the bracket and won the 1lb class in it and the drivers first robot combat event. Reptar is currently undefeated with a 3-0 record.

Apollyon successfully defended the 12lb title and is the 2012 Dragon*Con Robot Battles 12lb champion with a 4-0 record.

Nyx nearly finished Dragon*Con 0-1 after facing Uberclocker Unicorn in the opening 30lb match, however after the first round the 30lb weight class was switched to double elimination, which meant Nyx would be able to continue to fight. Nyx won 6 straight matches capturing the 30lb championship and finishing with a 6-1 record.

I have already uploaded all of my video from the event and sorted them into relatively convenient playlists which can be found at the following links:

Dragon Con Robot Battles is next weekend, and after some more tweaking on a few of the robots and a few new builds/rebuilds, the fleet is ready.

Nyx and Apollyon have been essentially untouched since their post Motorama repairs and upgrades. Gelos (the one with the massive wheels) is a new build from almost entirely scrap parts. Algos has had its wedge freshly sharpened after going undefeated at Clash of the Bots. Klazo has a new, larger, faster drum and some new side rails and wedgelets to match. Reptar is a full rebuild of last years 1lb Dragon Con Robot Micro Battles champion.

I've been working on a new featherweight for my fiance to drive at events. Here's a progress picture-

Planned attachments are an axe, a hammer, a chainsaw, and a circular saw. Drive is a pair of 18v Dewalts geared for ~10mph and the center of gravity is within an inch of the wheel axles with the hammer attachment, so it should be able to swing fairly well.

I really like Moros - its a lot like my first KE spinner. Now that Robogames is no more, what do you think is the best event with 30 Lb bots in the US? I am really keen to take my new vertical spinner international.

As far as 30lb events go, Motorama is the event to go to. Between Sportsman and regular 30 we've got 31 registered this year.
