Are you going to have the same cone shaped shell as Triggo? It seems pretty effective against vertical spinners.

How is the motor going to drive the shell - friction?

Hey guys I promise I am still building! I have been a bit busy with our new robotics division at work. The company I work for has bought a robotic welder and I have been down in Melbourne training on how to use it ad how to write code in AS, here is a teaser from when I was down there.

https://youtu.be/4lR1t6AqTN8

I have also been busy building a front end loader for use on my massive one acre - build thread is here - http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/build-yourself/335995-yardmachine-mtd-fel-build-diary.html

and I Tore a tendon in my knee at work last week, light duties for a while.

Batteries question If I am running 2 4S 3400AH in series for the weapon motor (NTM 380kv) and driving drill motors off of one battery, can I use this for weapon?

http://hobbyking.com.au/hobbyking/store/__32148__HobbyKing_100A_ESC_4A_UBEC_AU_Warehouse_.html

or do I use something like this?

http://hobbyking.com.au/hobbyking/store/__24179__Turnigy_dlux_80A_HV_Brushless_Speed_Controller_OPTO_AUS_Warehouse_.html

and will my batteries last long enough?

feels like such a noob question lol been stumped for days

Embarassed

That first ESC is only rated up 6S so its no use to you. The 2nd one will definitely handle the voltage but maybe no the current. I think Glen had quality problems with the Dlux range of ESCs - I would go for the 120A version or this ESC: http://hobbyking.com.au/hobbyking/store/__38787__The_Turnigy_Sentilon_V4_HV_100A_OPTO_5_12s_Bulletproof_Speed_Controller_w_RPM_Sensor.html its also worth getting the programming card.

I'm guessing you mean that one of the weapon packs is also going to be running the drive motors. That can work but the double-duty pack is going to get hotter & flatter than the pack just running the weapon and you might run out of capacity on it. You could compensate by using a higher capacity pack or just using a separate smaller pack for the drive motors. Most people go with option B (its safer & conservative), while option A can save weight and wiring complexity (you only need one power switch).

Badger’s build thread is mixed in with some other bots under the Kronos team name.
As we were obligated to put on a show in the early days for Sidetracked we pretended there were more teams competing.
Seemed like a good idea at the time. At least we weren’t pulling the bots with fishing line.
So Kronos is just part of the Rotwang team with my brother Rod doing the driving.

I thought sentilion was one of the ones which had a period where it would just explode. IIRC at one stage it was 1star on HK.

Don't know if they have fixed that but might be something to watch out for.

YEP ones is what glen is using but the prop strike protection is a bit problematic in our application. [/code]
