You will just have to get revenge on Glen next time.
It was a good first bot and I am sure you could make a very reliable one now. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
Hey man
Was great to meet you. Very nice for a first robot indeed, keep working on it and one day you'll be dealing out that kind of punishment in return _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

haha yea good learning curve that one, don't use so much air armour and make sure your wheels don't fall off!I plan on doing a full rebuild for redux mk2, more of a jolt style than what I had before and bisoly or hardox for the armour.

As much fun as Jolt was to battle with, it had a huge fatal flaw - it was impossible to make it drive inverted! I recommend going for a 'mid cutter' design like Judgemental; It is relatively easy to build without high-tech materials and you can obviously weld well enough to pull it off. If you can keep the frame thin and enclose the wheels a bit, I think you will be on a winner.

I concur.
Rapture was also a good example of this design, but IIRC it had problems whereby all the weight was spent on the top and bottom Bizalloy 'sandwich' plates and there wasnt enough left to adequately armour the rear and sides, resulting in it taking a lot of damage from other horz. spinners. But a redesign with that in mind could result in something special. I've been wanting to do this in Beetleweight scale for some time now _________________ <Patrician|Away> what does your robot do, sam

The original rapture was a bit stronger with the 4140 frame members... If you would like that blade I still have it... I think we could come to some arrangement. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v424/dyrodium/P1010061.jpg _________________ ( •_•)

For that type of design some old bender photos may also be good to check out. Similar to judge mental in a lot of ways, just older. _________________ Remember to trust me, I am an Engineer.
Indeed, original Rapture was baller. Would go great with brushless power.
This is the later version to which i was referring:
You cant see it cos its spinning but it had a straight blade like Judge's instead of a disc

I was wondering about the ability to self right I was assuming that the problem was rectified but I havn't got that far in the build thread (Nick your build thread is hooge!) looks like an invertable mid cutter is the way to go! angus Rapture was that your build, the one you made out of solid rod? (still havn't finished your build thread either) may just have to take you up on that offer still got the pulleys to go with it?

mid spinners don't need to right
just poke the wheels out top and bottom _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Hey Harley...Let us know if you want some wheel hubs lathed up...we did up some for the drills we used in ringo ..and although we burned a few motors the hubs worked fine....just helps the red wheel hold on properly cause your not relying on the crappy reverse screw to hold it on.
Was great seeing your enthusiasm at the event to...can't wait to see what you do next.
cheers

sounds good jules, I'm still deciding on what wheels to go with, seeing as that's what let me down the most at nats. I don't know wether to try bane bots, colsons or reds need to do more reading and see what everybody else has done.

Ey mate, yeah it was built from solid 4140 rod, heavy but tough, I think I have the original pulleys and bushing but they're huge T10 size timing belts. Might want to look into something like catastrophe has in the form of a V belt as they seem to be nicer on brushless motors. ah wow that blade is over 5ys old... good times.
I would 100% go with colsons... maybe just hold off on buying from the states for the moment though. _________________ ( •_•)
