12V Ozito drill gearmotors $10ea large quantity available!

So, a friend of mine from school has access to a large number of 12V Ozito drills, new in box, minus batteries and chargers, leftover from a project where only the batteries were required.

DETAILS

There are two styles of gearbox, both are different to the traditional shape of gearbox casing front housing that we are used to.

TYPE 1 - SOLD

TYPE 2 - 35 available:

Note that the section with the spring around it is a separate plastic part which comes off - it's actually off in the photo and is just sitting in place

- These have a round front profile, plus 'wings' on either side with holes for pins that are part of the drill casing. These should actually be quite easy to make mounts for.
- The back plate is held on with pins, and doesnt overlap the motor.
- This type has steel gears as well
- Each gearmotor weighs 435 grams including the left hand screw and the wires.

PRICE

Both types are available for $10 each. They might be just drills, but at least they're cheap!

POSTAGE AND ORDERING

For $10 you can pickup from Lalor Park, NSW. You'll get the entire drill in box (again minus battery and charger).

Shipping is extra
For shipping, he will strip put the gearmotors from the drills, leaving the chuck attached (so as not to damage any left hand screws) and post them with tracking (not going to do it without tracking). The postage will cost:
- $20 for 4 drives
- $30 for up to 10 drives
- Then an extra $2 a drive for quantities over 10.

This means you can get 4 drives for $60 total ($10 x4 + $20), or 10 drives for $130 total ($10 x10 + $30).

If you are interested, respond here with what you would like.

What about pickup for local boys

IS the first type the standard d shape front end we are used to

The second type r good for hammer weopons or weopons where a clutch is needed as you literally dont have to do anything and can just screw the piece in and out to adjust it

I have two of these types in shit second sportsman from xu1 18 volt drills

But if the first type are the same old old school d shaped guys ill take 10 of em

What possible thing could a person be doing where 12V ozito batteries were the answer?

Yeah those are good Smile I kinda like that design.

But yeah no D shape mate, maybe go for the type 2? Tho probly not too hard to make a mount for the triangle ones with some plastic blocks, a drill and a hand file tho

I believe they were being handed out to telecoms techs for testing equipment or something

The type 1 gearboxes are basically regular drill motors apart from the triangular front? Is the output shaft the same general construction?

Andrew, Cool, ill get the details for you

Nick, yeah otherwise they're business as usual. I think the output shaft is slightly longer, maybe 5mm or so, but same thread and same left hand screw setup etc. We're going to grab more pics with the chucks off so will update this when I have them

Umm, I already PMed about buying all the type one gearboxes. Don't worry though, I plan to upgrade the carrier pins, get quality UMHW mounts water-jetted and then resell them as cheaply as possibly - way cheaper than any of the competition.

If those reinforced pins/shafts work well I reckon the entire combat community might be interested. ^

Over here, we have the legendary "Andrew-Mod" drill motors, which some builders have been using for years without any failures. I plan to do all the best bits from that project while keeping the cost down and leaving some of the easy bits for builders to finish off.

Its also going to be as open-source as possible so the entire community gets something out of it, even if they don't buy any gearboxes. I'm going to be 'self employed' (IE un-employed!) in a couple of weeks, so I will have plenty of time to devote to this.

Indeed nick, sounds good. I did pass on your PM and I believe you have been contacted about it?

So lets consider all the type 1 drills reserved for the moment pending confirmation.

Type 2 still available and will get payment details etc sorted tomorrow

Smile

I will drop by and check out the gear-motors this week. Unless the gears are made of play dough, its a done deal already!

At the moment, I plan to get the mounts waterjetted in 16mm UMHH in a large sheet and then cut out the individual mounts on my big table saw to lower the cost. If anyone has a more cost efficient idea, I am all ears.
