Plush 10 woes

Hello all, I'm back again with another question.

I figured out the whole process behind flashing with SiLabs F330's, and I ran into a snag. I recall seeing all the source code for the Plush 10 SiLab, but never a hex file. I took the source and compiled it into a hex with SiLabs and Keil, and when I went to test it out, this is what happened:

First two wire connections I tried: Middle and Rear, Result: Rear FETs began smoking

Next wire combination: Middle and Front, Result: Middle FET exploded (literally)

Final combination: Front and Rear, Result: Nothing.

I may have botched the hex file, I may have done the wrong output wire combination, I may have pissed off Lady Luck. I'm not sure. I haven't found anything that really clarifies which wires to use/if there's a pre-built hex file for the Plush 10, or if I did it all right and just had a dud on my hands. I have one left and would like to get it right this time around.

Any tips/wisdom/advice?
Thanks for reading and for any help.

For reference's sake, here's the hex file I compiled from the source:

I think it has been almost a year since I did any plush10s. Makes me wonder if they have changed pinout. Maybe try tracing it yourself or check the docs from the Heli guys reflashing them.

Marto,

Thanks for the fast response. The how-to I read was from the BLHeli guys at oddcopters. You might be right though, the pins may have changed, or I may have botched something. I think I just might bite the bullet and stick to TZ12As, seeing as it's AVR and has a precompiled hex. I can repurpose the remaining Plush 10 for another bot I'm making.

I just flashed a few new plush 10's... I used an arduino with a modified bootloader in place of a toolstick and a program that I found for flashing SiLabs multicopter firmware.

I also compiled using Silabs IDE and Keil pretty much the default setup I just changed the location of the pinouts file.

The wires that output the voltage are the front and rear wires.

Here is the HEX that I successfully used... I cannot guarantee it will work for you as I don't know your setup. Also what power supply did you use? (I used a 2s lipo)

Not sure I will be much help as I am a mechanical guy not an electronics guy.... but I figured I would pipe in since I just did this the other day.

Jolijar,

Thanks for the response. My setup is using the SiLabs toolstick, and I got a good enough soldering iron that I can solder directly to the pads. I'll give this hex file a try and see what happens and I'll let you know if it worked. Thanks for letting me know which wires to use, that might explain why the FET on the middle channel, well, exploded. I have to admit, that was a cool thing to witness. I'll flash it tonight and get back to you in a few hours. If it doesn't work, I'd appreciate some info on the adruino/bootloader/process you used to successfully flash yours.

-Tim

EDIT: I just tried flashing, and the hex file failed. There was an incorrect something-or-another in it. I might just go ahead and try the arduino method since this one seems to be giving me trouble.

I read through like 40-50 pages of info + the entire botbitz thread before attempting and the only reason I did was because I burnt out my HK10's that I bought from Botbitz by accident and needed a replacement fast.

I strongly urge you to buy from Botbitz unless you are 100% confident you can do it. They put alot of work into the code and the price is well worth it.

This shows the pins that are used for programming (the red white and black circles)

Also read this and the threads linked to rcgroups there
http://www.olliw.eu/2012/owsilprog/

Here is my flashing setup I held the contacts down so they would not loose connection.
wires are hooked to arduino Duemilanove isp header (with owsilprog bootloader)

(usb port is to left of isp header)
WX
XR
XB

X= empty pin

Also rather than hooking something up to the wires to figure out which is which use a multimeter.

I also read that as long as you use a current limited source you wont blow up your esc's but I don't remember where I read that and I have no idea if it is valid or just internet bs....

Do your research and come to your own conclusions...

Hope this helps.

~Jeffrey
