Oooooh cool, Well it's pretty close but substantially different, much more flat and tastes more bland. Doesn't have caffeine or the quinine from the looks of things.

Anyone from the UK wanna do a food swap? Pretty please hahah

So they've made a dumbed down "export version" and still put "Original and Best" on it ? Cheeky Sods.

There are people selling imported (hopefully genuine) locally on ebay I see. Pretty pricey though.

You can get Irn-Bru in Australia? Bloody hell, I struggle to get it in England sometimes! The Peruvians have got a drink called Inca Kola, it's similar to Irn Bru but luminescent yellow. It's also the shizz.

Anyways, been away having a rippin time out on the bikes the last few weeks, but now its back to robots while my license is still in tact!

Plan for decimator is simple, just a slight evolution.

The insides will be shifted around to make it easier to work on, the drives will get replaced with 550 motors to save a bit of weight, banebutts wheels are out in favour of colsons and the weapon motor will be totally custom.

Going to use the stator from a hobbyking motor, then rewind it to put out its max power on 5s instead of 8-10s and build a can with bearings top and bottom with some better magnets. This should be plenty stout. Will save the right angle drive for version 2 Smile

Got a test setup going and selected my motor of choice - the helidrive sk3 motors are really nice and have tons of power for the $35, the magnets are just a bit crappy. I wasn't that happy with the NTM 50-60 in comparison.

Now i just need to fiddle with some winds and get cracking on the build!

That sounds like a solid plan for world domination Smile. Are you sure you need a bearing at the base of the can? They look complicated to design and that big Rotomax I customised uses quite a bit of hight to get the bearing in. The motor also needs a huge central tube as the armature wires have to come out through the centre.

If you are still using a pulley around the can, how about making it part of the endbell and pressing the can inside the pulley - no way that would come apart. I doubt that any of the endbells on HK motors are a stronger grade that 6061, so making your endbell-pulley from a hefty piece of 2024 will stop it bending.

Ill throw up a cad tonight, essentially it'll be a 16mm solid rod of 7075, through the stator, then the can / pulley / top of the can are all one piece of steel with a bearing mounted to the top of it, an aluminium ring with a bearing bolts radially into the base of the can. Then the lot gets mounted with threads in either end of the 16mm axle, and wires come out through a slot milled into the bottom half of said axle.

Saves all the complexity of doing it like the rotormaxes with the two bearings on the bottom and what not. But still easy enough to get apart and work on Smile

Soon lad ;p

Had a quick go at rewinding the helidrive. This one has about 30% the kv of the original and a bit more Copper inside Smile

Peak running current Is about 400w. Not bad. Need to get to work on measuring the efficiency of the motors then a final wind can be chosen.
