java on the client side perhaps and just "get" to a page with updated values?
you only need to update on change and also a stroke a watchdog for failsafe.
so it may not suck toooo badly.

Its terrible, really terrible I know, but it might be easy on the host side at least.

Well thats a no as Java applets won't let you connect unless they are signed.

rolf nice,
what sort of update rate are you getting?

Last time I did something similar I think about 6-8hz was enough to feel "smooth"
4hz was ok though.

Honestly haven't done those sorts of tests yet I think it would be a few Hz but yeh still tossing up whether or not to implement web sockets.

I would guess around 10-15Hz from my tests. Not sure what the HTML5 refresh rate for the IMU code is so that could be limiting factor.

Nah been busy with work/uni I think my projects are going to have to stop for a while while I try and finish Phd.

It 100% works it just needs finishing.
