Not that I am a great 3D expert, but Rhino is very likely to be easier to learn than Solidworks. While Solidworks is more powerful, Rhino does more than enough to design a complicated bot.

Fusion 360, basically solidworks but easier, and free. Rhino can be a hassle to get accurate DXFs from.

you can also take a look at onshape, its very new and totally web based but plays well with SW
