WHat a off the wall concept. I love the idea but in practise there are some things that come to mind.

The drill motors powering a wheel that size= broken drill gearbox's or motors. TO move a wheel that size u need at least kiddy car gearbox's or use the 100 watt scooter drive trains. A good hit from a spinner will either shred teh wheel or bend/break the shaft/whatevers attached to it.

Also how do u stop the blade hitting the ground.

Looks good though.

There is a support arm that comes out from between the wheels is there to stop weapon from hitting the ground.

The Drive train I am stressing to the max. I have done some minor modes to the motor & Gearbox arrangment to see if the XU1's can be modifided to take a lot more punisment, than they currently take, As well there is a support plate with a brass bush on the out put shaft that will help releave the stresses.

Have a look at the Builder Report their is more details there.

Well I'm been working on the design for my scooter motors, so I decided to draw the rest of the setup in Rhino (minus the wheel).

Took a bit of work, but I've drawn the scooter motor, small 17tooth timing pully, large 88tooth timing pully, 125 tooth timing belt and soon, the matching 140mm wheel.

Next thing to do is get around to putting threads inside the motor mount holes!

Seeing as how we tend to run significantly different parts from the common US stuff, I suggest we start a CAD parts model repository for people to share the parts they have taken the time to draw.. (if they dont mind).

I'm happy to setup a page on the RoboWars Site if people want to send me any models they have.. credits of the creator will be listed on the page.

Any Takers ?

just to bring this up again, did you ever get my email brett? if not gmail properly wont let me send zip files... if you still want my models i can probably upload them to a server somewhere for you.

so is this library going to happen? It would be really usefull if it could be done with some of the hard to draw, but common parts (eg, drills). Smile

OK, OK, I've finished setting it up.. Razz

I didnt have time to do anything about it last time I mentioned it, but now I have.

You can find the CAD File listing at
http://cad-models.robowars.org

Initially, just the files from Glen (thanks Glen) are there in .3DM format (which is Rhino's format I believe), but I think many others can open them..

In answer to the Kero's, I'm pretty sure most Cad programs can open IGES files, so that would probably be a preferred format for maximum cross-program compatibility.

I also have about 170meg of assorted Cad files (dxf, dwg, igs, 3dm, sldpart etc) that I can upload there, but I've accumulated them over time from various websites on the net, so I'm not sure of the authors reposting policy.. does anyone know if other authors get narky if I hosted them ? Most of them are probably U.S. based parts anyway and so are of limited use to us, but some like the Victors and BattlePacks could be good..

If anyone else has any cad drawings they would like to share with everyone, send them across to me via email and I'll upload them for you..

More CAD files upload to http://cad-models.robowars.org

I've zipped them up individually now, since that saves a lot of space and download time..

Thanks to Glen Rose and Daniel Kerrison for the file contributions.. Wink
