Literally sounds like a marketing guy wrote them in his lunch break with all the "If you can convince us of your skills" clauses. Not much technical restrictions like having components certified (pneumatics/hydraulics) or any information about testing at the tournament? _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

I like that it is written in 'plain English' but is very vague in parts. The definition of an active weapon seems to completely eliminate meltybrain type bots, which is a shame.
The section on banned weapons made me laugh: "
Weapons that damage the other bot by destroying themselves.
" Does that mean badly designed weapons that break are banned? _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

One thing that intrigues me is that they have banned CO2, but are allowing the use of nitrogen in pressurised systems.
Can anybody tell me the difference between CO2 and nitrogen in terms of pressurised systems and why in Australia we allow CO2, but that Battlebots aren't.
Also aren't the pressures allowed a lot higher than we use? (3000psi storage and 400 psi regulated pressure)

They do seem to be trying to allow as much as possible. The CO2 ban is odd.
CO2 maintains its pressure as the liquid turns to gas. N drops pressure from the first use. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

I heard the CO2 ban was because the production crew were worried that teams would warm the bottles before fights, which would cause hazards in the pits. Personally I would just force CO2 users to run a regulated system, which would make warming useless.
I also heard that it was possibly because of dry ice forming inside the system during a fight, which would vent in the pits, or build pressure in the pits. But that seems like it was thought up by someone whose never built a robot before.
The minimum of two power switches is strange. One for the drive and one for the weapon.
And no need for a power light.

High pressure nitrogen scares me a lot more than CO2.
N2 has all that energy ready to go at the drop of a hat, CO2 needs to gassify at least a portion of its mass which takes time. (well below about 40C anyway)
The higher pressures are probably going to encourage composite tanks too which will be less suited to our environment and fail less gracefully. _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

The application system for season 2 is open. They are looking for 56 robots.
Already on it _________________ Steven Martin

Ok, I thought I'd fill it out with Huntsman's details and see what happened.

Moved house again and Telstra buggered up my phone line
again
, but after 2 weeks of me swearing them I managed to get the internet turned on just in time to send in my submission. I actually missed 3 phone calls from Battlebots over the last week because they wanted me to finish the application.
Anyone else being secretive and not sharing their submission?
I did a thing. Always a good sign Daniel hopefully we get at least one AUS entry. _________________ Steven Martin
