You are a brave man! It would be interesting to see if it worked but all that re-work is pretty risky. There might also be issues with the FET drivers not having the current capacity to deal with the extra capacitance of the added FETs. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

This sounds very cool. I would be interested to watch.
What wheels are you thinking of using, Marto? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

What kind of weapons are usually allowed for outdoor events? I would imagine no high powered spinners since the spectators are unlikely to be behind polycarbonate. Flame throwers? Saws? Tethered projectiles?

We will have to see what Steve has planned but its fairly safe to say that I won't be building a HW Mr mangle any time soon . There would also be issues with the way they work; most vertical spinners need low ground clearance to be effective and that would mean they would plough an uneven arena and maybe throw rocks about.
Maybe overhead weapons will make a comeback? Maybe we all wear FPV goggles and stand back 2KM? _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Big spinners are fine. Nicks last question is on the money but all completely speculative.
And you can use two tz85as in a pair with some code from Sam Mcamis I can dig out but one Tz will do wheelchairs fine _________________ Steven Martin

I was thinking that four pole motors (like a Mag motor and some wheelchair motors) have two isolated circuits and don't need anything special in the ESC. Conceptually, its like having two smaller motors driving the one shaft. Sewersnake uses that idea on its lifter. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

After plenty of brainstorming, I like the idea of a 4 bar electric lifter, powered by a Mag motor (or a large out-runner) and a ball screw. Since off-road bots need plenty of ground clearance, it should be easy to get a lifter underneath them. Possible improvements might include a grabber mechanism and interchangeable ends on the lifter.
Is anyone in NSW interested in teaming up on this? I have some parts already and plenty of other resources, but maybe not the time to do a HW bot justice. PM me if you are interested... _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

I can maybe score an old power chair or two or some old four pole motors if we have some drives kicking round, time to do it properly, cant, between mortgage, work and a billion other damn things i got zero time.
I can help with parts etc probs, massive batteries etc _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

What is "off road"? Football field, rocky creek bead, dairy wash-out? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Nobody - not even Steve really knows yet. I would plan on as much ground clearance as possible. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

What watt?
OK that isn't the correct unit, but what Ah should a non-spinning HW use? 8Ah seems to be the consensus from my reading. Does anyone have the same or different ideas? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

An off-road arena may need more capacity - it could have higher friction than a smooth floor, uneven patches and a slope. 8AH is a starting point but testing is important.
I just had a thought about recharging; off-road might also mean 'away from a power point' so a generator or two may be needed. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion
