A new Brisbane Builder here. I was inspired by Robowars on the weekend. I used to watch it on TV back in the late 90s and it was the reason I chose electronics at Uni. Somehow over the years I forgot it was active in Australia.
I am aiming for a bit of nostalgia in my first bot, so will probably go with a hammer/axe/pick weapon. I am thinking a snail cam and strong spring might do what i need..
Just curious, is BotBitz still active?
Is there a calendar of upcoming events? I don't really want to make a bot and not be able to play with it

There has been a lot of events being held in Brisbane lately. As someone who lives in Sydney I envy you
I am far from a veteran builder, neither have I attempted a spring powered weapon, but I've heard spring powered weapons can be a bit harder to work with and more dangerous than other weapons (all combot related things are dangerous but some in particular). IMHO having a backup plan to convert it to an electrical axe would be good since you already have a motor to drive the cam.

I tried a snail cam pickaxe last year, it looked promising but I failed to execute it correctly. Richard with recoil2 was a snailcam spring flipper and was amazing except for a few teething problems. So I think its doable. _________________ Creative Instigation - Build Something Awesome!
I am thinking i could get away with a cheaper ESC for the hammer as it doesn't need reverse..
I still haven't heard back from botbitz, is it still an active website or should i source my drive ESCs elsewhere?
Is there a list somewhere of upcoming events?

BotBitz is run by Steve Martin who ran the event on the weekend. He has probably not replied due to recovering from the chaos of the event. Give him a few more days or PM him on here _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/
