Found 18v 550 motors with metal end caps>

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Lot-of-4-units-18V-DC-Motor-NEW-18-0V-K-42279298_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3911Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem3ca0a9ffd8QQitemZ260393533400QQptZLHQ5fDefaultDomainQ5f0QQsalenotsupported

They arrived in the mail today finally lol they work out about $13au each which is better then $40 for a dse drill if you only need the motors Shocked

I wacked them on my baneboxes for a quick test they look like they are standard 550 motor rpm i had one gearbox with the dse and one with the new motor and the wheels seemed to spin the same speed but i will borrow works rev counter again and post the end rpm from a 16:1 banebox on 6s a123 which then i can also work out the motor rpm.

But they will make perfect cheap drive motors for Reaper Very Happy

Progress today altho very hungover from my mates 21st last night and into this morning 10 cheesburgers later and some red bull i managed to weld most of reapers frame.

First off welding gal = FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU and + hangover = 2x FUUUUUUUUUUUU lol

Second i cant post pics till i find the camera charger lol so pics pending but there should be a little reaper running around in the next week when i get some moneys for an esc.

Weight wise i weighed everything but the frame and added a 500g buffer which gave me 6.3kgs for a frame so far im up to 5.1kgs and it only needs some small bits welded on then some cut off soo i should be right weight wise i just hope there is enough for a paint job Very Happy

Finally found the camera cable so heres some pics of the frame about 60% completed Very Happy and some wheels and blade just so you can get an idea of how its gonna look.

It starts Shocked

Reapers drives.

I noticed the hubs once you do up the grub screws they stick out which means the wheels don't slide over which is a design error on banebots behalf so i had to key the hex in the wheel so they would slide over the screws>

srimec motor which will prob be mounted between the two top forks to the front just before the disc.

All electronics and battery will fit into a 125x100x85mm box between the drives Cool

Looking good so far man its been a while.

LoL the only box i could find was from work its like 3.5mm thick the frame is already a solid brick and i still need to weld in motor mounts and support brackets Very Happy

I was going to have a ali base plate but i worked out if i use some L section it will use half the weight and stiffen the frame at the same time also leaving one less thing that can come loose.

Will prob do some more on the weekend i might have to go down to yarra valley steel and ask if i can raid there little offcut box as i need to build up a collection of odd bits of steel so i can experiment more with diff shapes and ideas.

Actually, I believe it's design so if you drill a small hole into the shaft, the grub screws get a better bite and also sit flush with the hub. This not only locks the wheel on better, but stops the grub screws coming loose Smile
