I tryed a glow plug for my spud cannon but it burnt out first go Evil or Very Mad

Dude !?! That was one spensive way of going about it. . . . Dunno why, but Ive always found that a spark or flame lights better than an element, its way more tolerant when it comes to mixture screwups - BBQ lighter is the easiest option there, they work well till you end up breaking them off during the recoil action. Camera flash / strobe makes a fairly good one shot spark for ignition, flybacks are great for continuous.
Im using a flyback on the big one im building now - a way more serious attempt compared to my last one that was built on schoolies when it wouldnt stop raining lol. This one features a chamber fan, breach loading, and a decent chamber to barrel ratio - Running metered propane this time around too, as opposed to a 3 second shot of hair spray / deodorant - arseloads more power than the last one Evil or Very Mad

BTW, I believe glow plug wire is platinum

Hmmm... going slightly OT I would believe...
Not that I really care, but I did start this topic all those posts ago and it's about cheap antweight damn it! Laughing
You don't want a spark for a flame weapon anyway, you need a constant ignition source, like a pilot light or nichrome. Razz

In the US forum a guy named ‘Dick’ has a mini sparking unit made from stun gun parts for about $40 bucks US. It has worked very well in many different bots… Might be worth a look for ya.

Sure Dyrodium-I love lighweights too, ill bring the liitle fellow along, andy may
bring his, why dont you and anyone else whod like to be in, bring along
whatever youve got on the day, and well have us a rumble for the fun of it!!

Its a class that has a lot of potential, you only need a teeny arena and
they are cheapest to build i guess-I look forward to meeting you and other
roboteers on the day-Jason
