Windhammer (sozbot) micro nightmare style.

hi

ive been watching videos of micro nightmare and it kicks arse!!!!!!!! but! it cost to build over $500au. so i am going to atempt to build a robot better than micro nightmare for under $50!

Drive motors: for the drive i will use a tamiya dual gear box because it only cost $12 from tandy but i might ask around to see if anyone else has an old one they will sell me for less.

weapon: (discontinued) see nexted post

weapon motor: (discontinued)

chain and sprokets for flywheel:(discontinued)

radio: i am useing a micro stunt car radio to control the disk and ill use the switch setup $3.95 of ebay

yet to decide: armor? wheels? drive radio? frame?

You could try the hobby shops, but you'll probably pay big $$ for it from them..

You could try getting in touch with the local model engineer guys, they usually know where to buy little odds and ends at good prices, even if they do look a little askance at our destructive hobby compared to their precision engineered trains and things..

heres a link to a state listing of engineering clubs

thanks for the link brett

the plastic chain cant handle it no way.

i made a bar to put on the motor (200g) glued and screwed it onto the sharft and it spins so fast you cant see the bar. i locked it in a vice and conected it to the battery (outside) got a crappy plastic toy car which i got in a show bag, droped it on the bar and it exploded into about 20 pieces some even landed on the verander and in the pool 15 meters away. i think i might leave it ungeared Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

im not lying!! ill get some picture of the destruction once my dad gets back 2night.

3 cars lined up after being destroyed. the one on the left had a shell but its disapeered (presumed on the roof or in the neigbors yard) the one in the middle has just been sliced in half an and the car on the right well.. its just shatered.

Thats pretty cool there. Very nice pictures.

I have 2 questions though.

1. How did u mount the blade to the rs550 drill motor.

2. The shaft on it is way thin, wont it snap off against more heavier robots.

Ask glen about the shaft snapping off bit Very Happy.

the blade i basicly held on by a piece of plastic which is glued and screwed onto the bar and fits over the shaft tightly but is super glued on just incase.
http://robowars.org/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=304

ive hit table legs, tree stumps and car batterys and its never shown any sign of bending the shaft or breaking of.

check out this picture of a 3v motor i chucked in the blade twice.
