new beetleweight time, just to make angus shut up and to throw some parts into something...
pair of sanwa 102 i think they are servos onto cybot wheels for the drive, silvertone rx and mx3 radio setup, 1250mah NIMH AA batteries at 6v and a p9004 for the weapon motor.
the weapon is a disk. 600g at the moment before lightening. 115mm diameter and 8mm thick.
weapon shaft is gunna be 8mm diameter with a bearing pressed into the disk and then the pulleys are going to be home cut out with my little method now to work out the weapon switch. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

That looks pretty sweet, but are you sure that little motor is going to be powerful enough to spin the disk up quickly?

yeah totally, there will be a pretty huge geardown onto the disk so heres hoping. im actually scoping out some of the cheaper brushless setups as it may be cheaper than getting a weapon switch. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

short answer no
I remember th last one u had, the lil motor could spin it nicely but man it took forever
looks like a nice machine but the weopon unless glen has a good mout of time to spin up wont get to full speed _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

smaller i say!!
after dissappearing for a few days up to newcastle to see the most derro person ever concieved (we had to hock his portable tv for $20 to get enough money for a goon bag xD) i did a bit more designing.
friction drive so its lower now and more robust then the shatty old 3mm belts. the batteries are arranged better to get more space savings and the top and bottom are now 6mm lexan with 3mm ali screwed around the sides to hold it together. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

well i didnt do anything to this one except get some 700mah nicad AAs and solder them up into 3 seperate 2 cell packs. this was the smallest way i could get them in there
tonight ill drill that disk out and go out looking for some 8mm bearings. and am thinking of how to make a frame for the thing. making one this small is going to be damn difficult. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

time for small robots to occupy myself with seeing as i still dont have welder gas. annoying
just some 3 and 6mm ali bolted up together with my rc toy drives (4wd baby) and a p9004 motor driving a 400g disk. thatll be the weight when its done anyway.
battery is a 8.4v 800mah lipoly and the controller is the stock one but i ordered a scorpion tonight so i can run the weapon.
if its too heavy things to change will be - back to the lighter wheels / smaller battery / tiny tiny brushless etc.
tommorows work is to do a bit more of the frame and start making the pulleys and hub for the weapon.
the general layout - note the size of the drive motors they drive it around pretty fast and it pushed all the other beetleweights the last time it fought.
hand for size lol - disk is a pocket bike brake disk. hardened steel.
from the ass end. ill be folding the rear panel over so theres somewhere to bolt the lid too.
edit -
also bought a 11.1v 700mah Polyquest + HXT30 brushless motor and 30 amp esc so thatll bring it plenty underweight. i think. else i will have to revert to plan b.. TITANIUM! _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts
