i think you should just enter that, just cut holes for the wheels and duct tape the boxes togther, put the controller in one of the boxes, (take the charger out) _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

I think that would be be classed as an MDF bot too, since MDF/Cardboard are nearly the same fo shizzle _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

LOL
Nick also, i may need your help with a large one side supported shaft and bearing for an overhead bar _________________ ( •_•)
Well, glen has worked his CAD magic over my pretty crap one... so without further ado, i give you cataclysm rev 2
Specs;
Drive :4 12v drill gearbox's
Weapon :Two undecided 12v beefy weapon motors friction driving a 3kg bisalloy bar.
Batteries: Two 12v 2400mah nicad packs for both weapon and drives
Controler: My precious new ibc
Amour: 10x10mm steel box section (yet to be sourced), or possibly aluminium. _________________ ( •_•)

Have you done any weight calculations ?
A 4WD, dual-weapon motor, Steel-Armoured, Twin Sanyo battery pack, 3Kg bar spinner ?? I doubt it. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people

yes i have in fact, it is 4kg underweight. ive said it once and ill say it again. building it kang style by bolting it all to the top will instantly ditch a good 2kg with no disadvantage. added to that the bot is tiny. 270 x 270 x 50 at the body. and the sides and outer armour is all 0.8mm stainless. the box section does all the supporting. i think he will be able to run it off a single 2400 pack anyway lol.
i reckon if he bolts a stupidly oversized flanged bearing onto the top, like 35-40mm worth of bearing and tool steel shaft and itll be in buisiness. well aside from the very very shitty friction drive but im looking at bolting a magna fan upside down for a belt drive oh crap am i designing someones robot again XD

Well, if you can manage that it will be good.
I was thinking of K.O. - Its drill motors sit closer together than they appear in your cad drawing, and it has no active weapon, motor, bars or otherwise, although it does have a heavy frame.
It will be very interesting to see how close the (presumed) CAD mass calculations are to the final result. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people

yeah but consider that KO is 3mm steel all over compared to .8mm just on the sides of this, and KO has a big 3d square of box section, this is just a lattice work at the top. i reckon if it takes a hit to the sides or anything its totally dead
the weight calculations are always pretty good. this is the one on cobra and that was 12.7kg at robowars.
Dewalt shafts x 2 212.004
2x Dewalt with support kits 1750
12v 2400mAh nicad packs x 2 1100
victor 885 speed controller x 2 454
Colson 3" x 1.5" wheels 354
Spektrum reciever 7
Bearings 100
Power switch 40
but now you gotta go and build this angus lol eh eh i hope youve learnt to use a grinder and can cut 3mm polycarb straight now _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

4kg?
thats enough to
a) add some non sucky armor to the sides
b) boost the wep motor
c) add a second wedge bot as a cluster entry
personally i'd go for b or c ;-> _________________ Mechanical engineers build weapons, civil engineers build targets

Haven't yet been able to locate grub screws for the drill (also, which size do you need?)
They are actually M5 size by 5 to 8mm long. I have seen them in Bunnings in a blister pack, along with the miserably small metric screw range. Why do hardware stores still stock mostly imperial screws? _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Here is a sketch of the weapon mount:
http://www.lovingangels.com/Nick/Cataclysm_weapon.pdf
. It's an update of Orbit's weapon; I added thrust bearings at either end of the shaft and made the whole assembly thinner, which will reduce the bot's weight. It might also be possible to use a smaller pulley, although the range of aluminium pulleys is pretty miserable. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion
