One year of Australian Robots
Well it seems like a bloody long time a go, but this day last year was the first every combat robot fight in Australia. In fact as I write this we would have been prepareing for that first fight after sitting around all morning talking.
The robots at that first compitition were:
Annihilation: It didn't have a working weapon back then.
Haemorrhage: Had RS-540 compressor motors for drive that stripped its gears.
Hellbringer: With servo switching that would only drive forward if one motor was switched on before the other.
Spiney Tiger: The wooden wonder with the lid that opened and closed as it drove around.
C4: Now known a Marauder, its pneumatic flipper couldn't even lift another robot.
Froggstomp: Wasn't finnished before the day and due to problems it bearly moved.
Here's how the fights went from our (Hellbringer's) perspective:
Melee 1: Annihilation, Haemorrhage, Hellbringer and Spiney Tiger.
We went straight for Annihition and ended up driving onto it and getting stuck. Once free'd be Haemorrhage we went around for another go on Annihilation and backed off near the arena wall were Haemorrhage came out of nowhere and slammed us into the wall, shattering out perspex wheel and motor mounts (oh, how I luagh now ). That was us for the first Australian fight. The winner was Haemorrhage.
Melee 2: Annihilation, Hellbringer, Spiney Tiger, C4 and Froggstomp.
I drove Hellbringer around trying to find a good place to attack when the wheel fell off. Thats it for us again. The winner was Annihilation (the only fight its ever won, isn't that right Aaron )
Melee 3: Annihilation, Hellbringer and Spiney Tiger.
Ahhhhhh, the imortal 3rd melee. Spiney's wheel fell off just like our's did in the second and we went for a pushing match with Annihilation, which we were winning. Annihilation broke off and went for Spiney and I went to chase it but our motor mount broke, causing the w/w motor and wheel to break free of the robot. But magically I turn Hellbringer to face Annihilation, got it going forward and the wheel and motor moved back into there position and the robot drove from one side of the arena to the other. While this was happening Annihiltion had stipped its gears in the corner with Spiney. We won.
It was great at the time, but looking back now those were rather sad little robots compared to what we have a year later. _________________ Get Some!!!
