Hey Robo Robo,
Yeh I think I know where it is.
So what projects have you done so far.
I think the west Australians should get together one time and see what we can build.

Robo robbo,
I'm building a bodied robot. It has tracks instead of legs but human type body. It's using air muscles, servos and motors for movement. A P4 computer in the base for control. So far I'm building the protype. I've got a hand (needs to be refined a bit more) and an arm. They are made from wood to get sizing and then I'll lathe up the final product.
At the moment I'm doing the body. Mainly the shoulder joint. I'm trying to get it very much like the human movement. Back/forward and shruging.
It's like a wishbone suspension on a car but can move back/forward and up and down. It's using CV type joints to turn the arm with windscreen motors in the centre to lift them.
I'm waiting for the move Irobot to come out to get some more Ideas.

maybe you guys should organise a get together so you can all meet face to face and get discussing Smile

thats what most of the other states did, and it worked very well.

There are plenty of places for an arena just that it won't look proper.
A local basketball court will do i have a couple in mind that will be safe so we won't get hurt.
Also so far there are only small numbers and no proper robots so we should wait a while before buiding an arena.

The path to follow if you want to get things started is to build safe robots first then worry about an arena !

Stay away from the dangerous spinners (which are hard to keep working for battle after battle for inexperienced builders anyway).

Encourage people to build wedges and rammers which are safe(r) to drive nearly anywhere and easier to build cheaply anyway. you can practice in carparks and anywhere the bots cant run people over.

Once a few of you get the hang of keeping real bots moving without wheels and wires falling off, get your battery chargers worked out and a toolkit and all the support stuff you need to keep a bot running, then other people will see things are starting to happen and join in..

Its always hard to be the one to start pushing the cart by yourself until others join in, but if you dont make a start, how can you expect anyone else to ?
