Melbourne PicAxe Fair

Botbash ( & Robowars ) will be exhibiting at the Melbourne PicAxe fair
on Saturday 30th April at the Victoria University Sunshine Campus
460 Ballarat Road Sunshine , Level 2 - Whitten Building , opens at 10.00am

The "relay controller" that Vincent uses is based in a Picaxe micro (circuit design and software by Brett )
We have 2.4 meters of space booked ( with power ) to display Vincent and probably I.G. or Scoopy
I hope to be running the DVD and VCD's there and all are welcome .

Well we have been and done the Melbourne Picaxe fair.
The day started early for me and Brett as we packed up the car and turned the wheels towards Sunshine . Finding a place in a university can be a challenge at best and this day wouldn’t disappoint us as we searched three campuses before finding the correct building.

We took “Vincent” and ”Inspector General” the promo SVCD’s and the builders version of the last Robowars Nationals ( and a tv/dvd to play them on ) .Many interesting things were there , although most were far smaller than our “display” as most people had obviously not thought a “big” as us . Most of the people at the fair were teachers from assorted schools and so the displays were built by creative children in their classes . A seminar was held by the gentleman who writes most of the “picaxe” articles for silicon chip and some of the larger schools also had “pic” based displays there . One interesting thing ( not “pic” related ) was a man who demonstrated his 1 meter wingspan electric radio controlled plane . Built out of very light materials and powered by a rewound cdrom drive motor this man demonstrated a fantastic power to weight ratio and perfect control . Holding his plane vertically , he started the motor and let it go . The plane actually hovers simply from the thrust of its own prop and he has full control , managing to “hover” the plane around the room in any pattern you wish and return it back to himself at his whim . We have invited him to attend one of our fights and hopefully one day he may as it truly is impressive to watch . Much interest was shown in Robowars , the “Pic Relay Controller” , Vincent and of course Inspector General with lots of promo flyers and some promo svcd’s given away . Although a long day – it was well worth attending .
Enjoy
