Ive had a better look at Sproing i took some of the burnt wireing off and tested the motors directly to a batery. The lifter and grab motors and gear boxes still work even with the significant melting and distorton on the outer plastic gear cases there might be hope for a rebuild as well ..Also I inspected the lifter closely and it apears to have taken at least one or two direct hits on the springs from jolt there is a gouge behind one spring on the main steel pipe and one deep tooth mark on the edge of the pipe near the wheel that just looks like a triangle shaped punch mark .. So i'm happy with the spring absorbsion. I knew the fork extensions wouldnt last long if they got a direct hit but that was a gamble to try and get under Jolts skirts, it was just bad luck that he slid side ways and rotated as i was pushing under them as this caused the edge of his skirt to catch my forks and force them up on to his wedge into the bar ... if there is a next time i will just go in with the lifter raised 40 mm off the floor .... i might even go a lighter batery and put some solid spring steel wedge shaped wheel gaurds in place

Sproings back baby Takes a lickin and just keeps on tickin

I'm stoked its gunna be back in the comp.

Well i got bored today and draged sproing out from under the bench. I hosed all the fire extinguisher muck off it and have started rewireing it . Then I found a nice piece of flexible steel tubeing to put the wireing harness through instead of plastic condute . It might be up and running again shortly once i get a couple of my ibcs sorted out .

Sproing is alive again .... at the moment it is sharieng ibcs with the other bots as i acidentaly blew up the one out of the cheese that was playing up for the last couple of years ..so it will be sent off for repairs and hopefully I can have Sproing mobile for the next event in Brissy .It jsut needs a power link or heavy switch and a power on light fitted now.
At the moment ive just soldered in a p/c power suply swtich but its a push button one and turns off when bumped hard .

Heh.. I remember the argument about having to have exposed removeable-link power switches. I so wanted to build a bot with a hook on a scoopy-style arm that ran around pulling others power links out.

Good to hear Sproing has returned from the Ashes.
