The power switch is only tempoary its hanging out of the back of the bot and taped on to a bolt so i could turn it on and off when testing i havent decided the exact location for a switch or link as yet it will probaly be some where inside the back end behind the bolt on armour .
Its great haveing full control of the lifter now

Heh.. I remember the argument about having to have exposed removeable-link power switches.
Since when did they have to be exposed? I thought links just have to be accessable without tools.
The current rules are, as long as you can safely shut your bot down within 60 seconds, we dont care how you do it. But at one stage the UK influence was that you had to have a link that could be reached leaning over a fence or something silly like that. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. I want your bot wiskers.
I would like to copy your version of air armor on my next bot. How do you attach the straightened springs? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

The "Sproings" are actually 4mm dia torsion rods from out of car boots. Andrew raided all the cars at the dump for like a month to get enough of them I'll take a photo of the "Intact" (And they shall remain like that!) ones in the boot of my car when I get home _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Thanks. My big question is how they attach to the 1/2" rhs. Andrew said that he does not weld them any more. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Welding cause a lot of problems with making them go brittle at the weld, even when you just let them cool slowly and takes the springiness out of them. Andrew started putting 90' bends on the end of them drill a hole through the box section and pushing them through the box and then riveted an aluminium strap across the back of the 90' bend.
Crap hard to visualise in your head, but I'll swing out to Andrew's tonight with the 5MP Camera and snap some close ups and post them here (Need a lot more Sproing shots on here to be honest...) That's if he's even unloaded Sproing since the display weekend _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

Sproings spikes are from iner spring matresses the car boot torsion bars are what the grab arm and lifter arms are made from .I would have like to make al the armor from torsion bars but they were too heavy the inner spring mattres outer frame bars were the second choice sproing has 7.5mtres of matress wire in the sproings alone .

Oi, when you finish cutting the rust out of that land cruiser, you better start on the new version of Sproing, I'm donating hardox to the cause, so you better get it built _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

How have the metal from the mower blades survived over the years? Can you compare the mower blade material to that of the plow disc or Hardox? _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems

Necro; Are any window winder motors/systems more suited than others in robot applications? I am thinking of a simple electric lifter in a feather weight. _________________ So even the rain that falls isn't actually going to fill our dams and our river systems
