This might not be the place to post this but...

I'm just putting together an order to tower hobbies. What the best shipment method to use? Surface$33US, Air$50US or UPS$79US?

Also the standard skysport radio for $99 is the one to get? Thanx

The surface mail is seriously slow; it is just as reliable but not for people who like instant gratification, which is where UPS comes in. I have always been very happy with the Air postage, which usuallly gets here in 10 days or less. $50 sounds a bit more than I remember for my radio, check if they call it USPS

Is this for your beetle weight? 130mm wheels would be a bit big for most beetleweights and a 3mm axle will be bent really easily in such a large wheel. I can't recall ever seeing a wheel that size with such a small hole so you will probably need to find a size reducing collar or hub, or make your own wheel

Dont use any of the International air couriers (UPS or Fedex) unless you absolutely *need* it by a certain date.. you are guaranteed to get slugged for GST, Customs, Processing Fee's, and any other additional amounts they can think of.

USPS (United States Postal Service, as opposed to UPS - United Parcel service) is good value for money, and *normally* gets to Australia from Tower Hobbies within 7-14 days. Gary and I have both had one order that has taken many weeks in the last few years, but 90% of the time they're good.

And try not to order more than about $500-$600 worth per order, even through USPS, or you will probably (not always) have to pay GST - They hold your parcel at the post office until you come and pay up. If the amount owing is less than $50 (10% of $500), then they dont bother to collect it.

That used to happen to me with DHL, but for the last six months or so I have not been hit by any extra charge on orders up to $300. I think it might be because they realised I am not a business. Brett's advice still stands but you can get lucky sometimes on smaller orders Very Happy

My strategy for buying stuff in the USA is to keep it to small, rare and high-value items where the postage cost is not significant compared to the goods. In that way I often save money compared to buying it locally. If a box of screws is $25 here and $5.50 from McMaster's, then buying a few items in one order more than offsets the postage.

Anyone who wants some good 16mm bearings try here http://cgi.ebay.com.au/10-X-5-8-HIGH-SPEED-GO-KART-BEARINGS_W0QQitemZ7222641569QQcategoryZ64657QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
