The IB3800 cells are getting very good reviews but that price isn't so great. The $115 pack works out to $19.16 per cell and you can buy them individually for about $6.60 from places like the RMP and Battlepacks. Even with $30 postage, you would only be paying $70 so you are effectively paying $45 for the soldering and case. If you order the same cells made up as a soldered pack from Battlepacks, the price is still only $83 landed in Australia. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

While we are talking about batteries, I should mention the NiMH and LiPo cells from
Pure Hobby
:
http://www.purehobby.com/index.html
. This place is a specialist R/C battery store and has some hard to find items like the latest 20C Polyquest cells. The prices seem competitive, although I find the Polyquest prices are almost indentical between most sites anyway.
I recently bought two Polyquest cells from Robert @ Pure Hobby after the Battlepack people refused to ship LiPo cells internationally. The 20C cells turned up inside a week (fastest USPS delivery ever) and the cells were well packed.
So far, you might be wondering why I like this place so much? It turned out that one of the cells had a wierd manufacturing fault. Even though I found the problem outside the factory warantee period, Robert ( the owner) was very understanding and after a few diagnostic emails, he offered to replace the pack for free! That's really great service and not something you would get from any of the bigger R/C stores.
Buying stuff internationally is always a bit risky, but with this kind of support, I will be getting all my batteries from Pure Hobby.
BTW: There is a 15% sale on their site and the AU dollar is at a pretty good exchange rate. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

OK, I read the "2x packs" notice and then totally forgot it when I was calculating the price. I'm wrong and the Ebay place seems to be offering a good deal after all .
I don't quite understand their maths for the 4 pack price: is 2 packs cost $115, then how do 4 packs cost $249 without postage? That's $19 extra _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

I got a Polyquest PX4S-1800 pack that puts out 14.8V and has 1.8AH capacity. It's rated at 20C discharge so I can comfortable draw up to 30 amps from it. the packs were $89.95 USD each.
It turns out that the Axi Brushless motor only pulls 6 amps, so I could have bought a much cheaper 10C or 15C pack and save quite a bit of cash.
If you are thinking about using LiPo batteries, I would recommend the 15C range as they are still high performance and are much flatter, giving you an easier shape to design around than the blocky 20C packs. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Ok cool. I'll try to stick to nimh and nicad packs at the moment as i have a fast charger for them. Whats your experience in shipping and handling costs? I'm interested in getting afew things, and it also opens up ebay worldwide to me. (did you know truncation is for sale on ebay? ) _________________ ( •_•)
Packs are $109 now for 2, the idea behind buying 4 packs for $239 is that the seller doesn't bundle items, so for every 2 packs, it's $14.99 postage so rather than it being $247.90 he's making it $239...
