Yesterday was alot of fun, thankyou so much to Glen for letting me drive Kang, it further inspired me to building my own. So to that end i aquired the bits i bought from Angus yesterday, so i'm partway towards a working robot (now its a Pile of parts rather than conceptual)
Below is a (bad) CAD of what i'm thinking for my robot, the brown section is plywood, the silver is Aluminimum sheeting over plywood and the black is steel.
Yes i know its really badly done and i will do a better one (and one of the inside) when i have more time.
For the moment it will have no active weapons, however it will later be expanded to have the front panel a flipper, or (as occured to me last night) maybe a spinner on that panel.
Currently i own:
2x Drill Motors
2x Servo Switching speed controller.
2x Casters
2x steel sheets (510x120x4mm)
1x Aluminimum sheet (its thin, only a mill or so but it will do to place onto of the ply for extra strength)(and i got it for free, stole it from dad )
Required to get robot up to combat standard:
1x Radio Tx/Rx Set. Currently looking at the JR quatro. Nice cheap set, should do the job.
1x Chassis (made from ply, should have most enough around)
1x Battery pack (someone (i think it was andrew) said they had some old 12V drill battery packs i could have, so that should be taken care of)

Progress has been made, not in the direction i expected but still progress.
I've changed the shape and design of the robot to be, and have decided on a name.
The name and design both come from Stargate. I'm using the design of the Deadalus, Earths second interstelar capable ship, sent to defend Atlantis from the Wraith.
I'm currently working on a CAD but i chose to do this because then i can have a design i'm proud of, rather than a wooden triangle, it just seems a little plain to me.
Anyway the name also comes from an Earth starship, however instead of Deadalus, i've always prefered the name of earths first 303, the Prometheus. (In greek mythology he was the rebel god, which i think is approprate for a combat robot)
I'm not using the Prometheus design as i feel the Deadalus design would be easier to build a bot into.
