one thought i had was to make my own box section from 3 lengths of steel and make it in a triangular cross section youd loose quite a bit of weight through the whole frame and i reckon it would probably be even stronger than the box would be.
ah yeah and wrt to the cad looks good, but you could definitely narrot that thing down a hell of a lot if you moved the weapon motor foward, pulled the drives inward, and bought the IBC and batteries closer. and then you could taper in the rear part of the side panels too thatll save some weight. _________________ www.demon50s.com - Minimoto parts

That would certainly improve things, but then how could we tell it apart from Raiden? It would also make things stronger and lighter if the weapon support arms formed a triangle rather than a square. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Just looking over your design and just personal opinion, i reckon u should make eveyrthing as small as possible and ditch the steel frame and just have it all 10mm ali frame
For weopon setup and supports etc also i reckon the ali frame will extend out and weopon shaft etc pass through it.
Also i reckon having weopon shaft supported on both sides instead of just one would be ideal because less chance of breakage and troubles.
One design im thinking of is miso (www.diginati.com) where the top and bottom (in your case the 10mm ali) will be eveyrthing from frame to weopon supports and stuff, just pisture it with your disc and body shape and youll get what i mean
Best of luck with it dude, will be awesome when running _________________ Andrew Welch, Team Unconventional Robotics

Its the wrong color. Where's the neons?
Angle the sides to about 45 degrees or more if possible. It would be harder for Reboot to bite into the robot and would most likely get deflected over the top of the robot.

$10 says you blow motors and break wheels before you break those gearboxes Glen has hammered his into the ground and even Orbit decided to attack one of the boxes and they still work _________________ https://www.halfdonethings.com/

angus your so toast, lets seeafter orbit cracked welds eveywhere in Kang, bend the 1-0mm ali and ripped off the sae blade destroying the weopon motor and in process knocking the lights off the roofthe cover plate fell off and he sorta fell gently onto the blade grasing it, i wasnt going for internals on purpose gosh no.

Well since there's a builders meet at my place tomorrow I thought I had better have something to show for it.
Today I welded up the frame for 6x7, I'll mount the motors and electronics on it in the morning.
Yes that's an elastic band in place of the belt but don't worry, I couldn't buy a belt before today as I did not know how long it would have to be. and I wanted something to check alignment etc.
is it just the pic or my eys or is the frame not square lol

yeah I messed up a bit 2 things happened. the peice of angle got moved a bit as I welded it with the gun, also though I never realised how much metal bends when you weld it. I'll be taking a hammer to it today with the hope of getting the motor mounts straight. Hopefully I don't have to re-weld anything

things have moved along a bit, I found a car flywheel and tried to use that however it weighed 5.6kg's wich of course is way to heavy, Today however I aquired a flexplate off a toyota 18R Motor. It weigh's around 1.8kg's so I'll be using that. Now all I have to do is try my hardest not to make the bot look like raiden.
