Well lot's learnt!!!

-1- I spent WAY to much weight building a weapon that wasn't effective

-2- I sacrificed armour to build that weapon

-3- Armour of other robot's is getting to a point that soon we won't be able to get through it with explosives!!!

-4- Andrew mods rule!!!

I had one failure all weekend and that was in the wacky race. other than that the bot performed well. I did loose a battery pack against orbit but hey that's to be expected when you draw one of the hardest hitting robots in aust and have sacrificed armour to build your weapon. I was expecting to need a welder after that fight but I guess that we have all come along way in our build quality.
The fight with spyder was interesting. Damn that's one tough bot. I think George should start a new career building military robots.

CONCLUSIONS

I'm thinking my next bot will not have an active weapon, given that non active weapon bot's were all performing well right up to the end of the weekend.

Seeing someone chicken out on fighting a wedge when they have an almighty spinner from the state with the most dangerous spinners is soo boring... I'd rather watch boring wedges beat each other in the finals then watch someone make excuses Rolling Eyes

PSYCH! Laughing

I think for a simple tough bot a horizontal thwack has a lot going for it, I can bear to have one on the team where a wedge or brick is out of the question. Smile

How about a lifter ?

A lightweight arm that retracts into the body out of harms way can be low powered (if its slow), easy on the batteries, no major shocks (like spinners) to deal with, and is quite exciting to watch as spectators hold their breath to see if the opponent will tip or not.

plus, there arent many lifters about - Vincent, Scoop, An up-to-date version of Blade/CakeTaker ? or perhaps a low-energy rotary lifter like Minimower ? If it works well and holds together, you can gear the ratio up to turn it into a KE Drum ?

Just some ideas.. I dont like Wedges Razz The occasional fast powerful wedge is ok, but I usually head back to the pits to work whenever theres a wedge vs wedge fight on.

Ah you're just saying that 'cause I forgot to mention Pinscher and Spyder as lifters in Neweyns thread Razz

I think I.G.3 did pretty well for a virgin bot myself. It might look the same, but remmeber, it was about 80% a new bot.. bound to have some teething problems..

If it could make it to number 2 spot nationally with an plastilloy angle grinder gearbox and a low speed saw, wait'll I get this version sorted and debugged. Twisted Evil

Cardboad + Titanium thank you very much.. didnt you see those sparks ?

I'll admit to stupidity with the weapon spinning backwards, but the drive failures were caused by Cheng-Wah drills failing to handle I.G.s Awesome Pwnage Ramming Powah (In Aaron-Speak).
I.G.2 Ran Johnson Motors.
This will be fixed.. Smile

Oh, it needs a new Cylon-eye too after Bane poked it right in the eye. Cylon-clops anyone ?

[sorry about the scuffle in your thread neweyn, evict us if we get a bit D&D Wink )

Wedge + Spinner Cool Box + Spinner is just asking for troubles.

If your spinner fails, use the wedge! Reboot does it, Snak Maseen does it, even Jolt does it...

With the level of armour these days, spinners cannot always do damage, so Vertical spinners bring your win ratio up that bit more as you have a chance of flipping them in an impact. Bung in a nice ground hugging wedge, and you have a decent combination.

Although, I reckon George has something going with the Sewer Snake style front lifter wedge...
