we TIG welded our biz80 to mild steel shaft without too much of a problem.
the first one we did cracked but we wernt to crash hot with the welding back then (it was also only welded on one side which didnt help)

BTW is no one else using or planning to use Bisalloy/Hardox on there bots

I've been trying to get a sheet of Hardox 450 3.25mm for about 18 months now... They won't sell me anything smaller then a full sheet (1500 x 6000 x 3.25) and it's only a special run.... Was like only $660 for the full sheet, but about 3 tonnes worth of Hardox Very Happy

We used to have bisaloy hardox or what ever 1.2 mtre dia discs on the harvetor i operated. Part of my maintaince schedual was to weld on hardened steel cutting teeth .We had to pre heat the weld area and also use a special high carbon welding rods .I cant rember what the number was off hand but they took a bit of experiance to use .

By the look of that I won't be welding it(wheres the fun in that Surprised ).

Aaron, maybe in the future we could go halfs or purchase some Hardox with some others.

Maybe if others are interested they could say so and we could get a list of 4, 5 or 6 people Question

By the way assasin, your drill motor/gearbox is on its way, with the screw for the tip and four grub screws so you can lock the clutch thing in place. Smile

I purchased some 20c syringes to help apply the epoxy, but its just as easy with a knife. The trick is (with the supply from work) use isopropyl alcohol on a clean rag, and mold the epoxy untill it dries. Very Happy
