That's what I meant, just worded it wrong
It's like a spinning bar, you can put more weight out further then a disc for the same weight. Pros and Cons though with each method.

BTW: have a look thru the build thread for Billy Bob on the RFL forum; it uses an amazingly similar POP and comes up with a very different and interesting take on a vertical spinner. The builder mentioned that it took two hours with a bandsaw to cut through the S7 wepon material, so perhaps I would NOT have saved any money. Try oxycut they were doing stuff that looked like >> 12" thick. It'd get a pretty big angle happening though.
I think we could probably lathe biz, especially in the heat affected zone.

Home Shop Machinist magazine ran a series on building one and there have been several for auction on the Gray's web site - don't think I wasn't tempted! On the other hand, absolutely nobody else has had their parts cut this way and there must be a reason...
Moving right along, I am spending time building the electronics assembly; it's similar to Scissorhand's except wider and more parts have to be crammed in. Mounting the brushless controller firmly is a PITA !!! _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Probably too late nick but maybe a 2024 ali beater with replacable tool steel teeth or end bars might have been a better idea, and maybe cheaper! _________________ ( •_•)

I went down the whole replaceable tooth route and the US guys mostly recommended a one piece beater. I liked the aluminium frame idea, except that the axles looked tricky and weaker. If the S7 beater breaks or I need a spare, then the Ali / Bisalloy beater will probably get made. It might not be that much cheaper - large chunks of 2024 are surprisingly expensive although the cutting costs will disapear. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Ah well, maybe this is why we're not seeing so many beaters in the larger weight classes!
If thats the cost for a featherweight beater, can you imagine how much one for a heavy could cost!
If this part ends up holding up your progress on chuck tonnes, maybe it might be worthwhile to grab some normal steel pipe and run chuck as a normal drumbot till the beater arrives. _________________ ( •_•)

Or just get one made out of some mild steel to for testing and getting bugs out of it, then when the good beater is ready, most of the bugs are gone and its ready to kick ass.
EDIT:
Something I was going to bring up a while ago in regards to Chuck being a boring box with a weapon, you could have always gone with the exciting Chiggerator design.. At least if the weapon fails, you can resort to a wedge Plus the invertibility and 4WD would help with the control and driving issues

I was thinking about a cheap test beater, except that the S7 was only $1 per pound and mild steel wouldn't have been a saving - Bisalloy would have been much more expensive. The real cost is in the machining; I thought the rough cutting would have been cheaper than the lath and milling, but I was obviously wrong there. Even the mild steel beater would cost a similar amount to machine, as the S7 is not much harder to cut while it is still annealed.
The cheap route is an aluminium part that I can make myself, with Bisalloy teeth. The problem that all the US guys predicted is that big impacts on a small diameter spinner will place a huge outwards force on the teeth and they will tend to pull out or snap where the bolt holes are. im sure you could be cut it out with a hack saw and drill in the anealed state then clean it up with an angle grinder and file
