@Angus: It doesn't roll the robot over, it just lifts the back of it up so that the back wheels don't touch the ground, but, as a said, I fixed it with the wood blocks.
@Valen: My pics are all JPEG and they are well-under 800x600 pixels (640x480), any other possible reasons it doesn't work? Confused

Ah ok, just thought thats what you meant by "toppled over" lol. Open a photobucket account, they upload no problem, even if the pictures are too large it will automaticaly adjust them for you. Very Happy

Ah right now I see what you mean, the motors weight lifts the rear wheels off the ground. Smile Try loading it up with the battery packs as far back as possible, to help balance the weight. You could also put some thick steel plate at the back if you have the weight to help balance it. Diagonals are also a good idea to add strength.

I've put in the back of the frame with some wood. I'm going to put some aluminum or steel as Angus suggested. I'm probably going to get some 3mm alu this Sunday since I'm getting the aluminum for the top of the robot and Carpal usually includes offcuts with your main piece. I don't know where I can get steel sheet though, but somewhere in a Carpal brochure there was something about steel roofs, so I might check on Sunday.

my album pics are working now, but I forgot what my username and password is on Photobucket and I'm waiting for those details from them. It's always one thing or another...

I've mounted my fan motor by bolting two steel bars to two mounting flanges and bolted those to the base. Problem is, the motor's higher than the wheels, so my robot isn't invertible.

It's about time...

If you'll forgive the necromancy, after lots of blank periods, I have news.
First, you'll notice I shortened the name to 'Sting' and the team name to 'Crude Robots' because the robot looks very...um...crude.
Anyway, it's not a spinner anymore because one of the motor's wires has snapped off quite deep in and if I solder it, it'll come off really easily since I can already pull out soldered wires with enough force. Now it's a spike rammer, with a long, mostly un-threaded (but with enough thread to mount it). The spray-paint template has also been made.
The back is almost done and photos are coming soon.

I've got enough drill packs to sink a ship..

The front of the frame, made from corrugated stainless steel from an old sink I had in the garage. Might add more brackets.

Wouldn't have had any practise, and it WOULD be pretty bad if there was a problem and I broke down in the middle of the fight Laughing But I can always go as an exhibition bot and just punch holes in thin metal or something Twisted Evil

Laughing Hey, if Nick followed that idea he never would have worked on Jolt till it was the death machine it is today!
Don't worry about reliability, the drive mech should be pretty solid, and experience? Pah most robot drivers are still finishing their bots the night before. Razz

A reply ALREADY? *Chainsaw noise* Who's that? Get away from- argh!
Manyways, Since the robot is pretty simple, it probably has less of a chance of breaking down. And I could just bring some duct tape to mount everything for the time being. By the way, what's the frequency of that radio? So that no-one's bot starts twitching mysteriously...

Hey welcome to you and youre bot!

Another nice simple design for a starter bot-its the way to go.

I did have spikes on my first bot, Razorback, which also had drill
motors driving it, but found that drills dont quite give the speed and
power to make them "deadly impalers", but they are useful for keeping
another bot at arms length so to speak(like a spinner!).

I found the most useful weapon on that bot to be a hinged tail
spike, like a wedge, you can get under another bot and push it around!
Razorback was quite good at that-a good defence against a spinner,
if youre quick enough, is to shove it into a wall with its weapon going!

Anyhow, good luck with youre bot building, hopefully well see
sometime soon at a meet!-Jas
