New team grimlock featherweight-Defiant.
Ive put Suteckh on hold for some time-(dont want to flood the arena
with spinners just yet) as I need to build this new featherweight first.
Defiant will be a very low, electric powered lifter, similar to Biohazard.
Ive built a small model of it in lego to play around with the lifter arm
mech, Which is different to Biohazards', now Im going to scale it up
to full size in a balsa wood mockup, then select a linear actuator from
Firgelli Automation to power it.
It will be rear wheel drive with car steering ala Killerhurtz, as Ive had a great deal of experience driving RC cars-I think that will translate over well in
pressing home an attack.-Ill post some pics of the lego model soon-Angus
will teaming up with me on this one again-how low?-hopefully about 60mm!!
-stay tuned, as this one is definatley going ahead!!-Jas

Sounds good, it is about time that NSW dominated in lifters as well as spinners! I am a huge fan of Biohazard so I will be watching keenly.
Is Firgelli the place you mentioned before, with really good prices on actuators? I have been wanting to try out a design for ages and never found quite the right actuator for it. _________________ Australian 2015 Featherweight champion

Thanks Nick!-Yes, I feel like the challenge of building a good low lifter to
take on the spinners had to be taken up! Firgelli automation was indeed
the place I spoke of last time, they have a large selection of actuators
at really low prices
Ive got three shots coming up of the little lego model, showing where the
pivot points are for now-and the arm in the raised and lowered positions.
At this point, this is the mech I will be employing, although the geometry
may change a little when I build the balsa version (Which Im planning
on making a start on tonight) Jas

The first post I make will probably be a video of the pneumatic system working. Theres a lot of info for designing four-bar linkages online. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

What sort of Linear Actuator are you looking for? Maybe I can help.
Send me a PM with the specs you are looking for or just post here!

What I want I will get, cos I'm building it myself. _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

update!!!
So heres just a little update on the bot-Ive got a 2.4gig radio on the way,
as I feel while the pcm radio id good, digital seems a whole lot more reliable.
I have a pair of aluminium billet wheels for the front steering, about 40mm
in diameter. The rear one I may make up.
Im favouring a firgelli automation track actuator for its speed and power.
The robot may slightly wedge shaped as its drive motor sits a little high,
but thats ok as long as the front stays low!-jas

Good to hear back from you Jason! I've lost your number again... but you should pop over at some point to discuss plans. Nice plans, and you won't regret the move to 2.4g! _________________ ( •_•)
