There is a mod you can do to the spectrum to replace the standard linear regulator with a switchmnode that doubles the efficiency and hence the battery life. google fr spektrum switchmode regulator mod and you should find it.
Or if you dont want to void your warranty, just make up a better pack for it.
I replaced my 7C Radios 600mah NicD pack with a pack I made from 2500mah Jaycar NiMh cells about 6 weeks ago and I havent had to charge it once since. Used to require charging about once a week if I was simulatoring and Helicopter flying.. It has about 3-5 the duration now..
Reccomended if you want some more time between charges.. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people

mmm should be ok if i only use it for 3 mts at a time sounds like they are power hungry all my old radios go for about 2 years on a set of ordinary alkalines .

Offset drove well the only problem was a servo lead poping out of the reciever
.
I just need to work out how to dampen down the steering if i cant work out the instructions i will just glue some paddle pop sticks to stop the sticks going too far sideways

Paddle pop sticks u crack me up . Adjust the rates Andrew, Aaron will show you. Or:
Push both menu buttons up - to access the menus
Press the left one up until you see d/r or duel-rates
Press the left one down until you see your steering channel
Press the right one up or down to adjust....bring it down from 100

I find Exponential better for steering and power control. It softens up the curve around the center point of the stick, but still leaves you with full power at full-travel. _________________ Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people

More than anything I just wanted Andrew to start playing with it, all robots will be different. I had Exponential @ 100% for steering and 80% for throttle and had the rates down to 50% for both, to get any sort of control @ Kilivan on Eleanor. Also when testing @ home I had no duel rates(100%), it was just the slippery floor which I changed the duel rates for. And it made it fine to drive, rather than spin wheels getting nowhere.
Does this help Andrew? _________________ Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.

I see what you,s meen about the transmiter batery on the spectrums, it started beeping at me today and ive been very carefull only to have it on when im actualy useing it and not leave it on all day like the old one.
I weighed it today and since putting on the stainles steel base and adding a couple more bits of steel today it was 13.610 kgs . I have taken out four circles of 3mm ali from the base plate about 30mm dia but had to wire in the leds and a plug i used thin wireing but had to use silastic to hold the wireing in place on the steel i will have to take it down tommorow for a re weigh. hopefully its under i have room to remove two more circles if i have to with out weakening the structure of my base .

Aaron and i had a good bash around today to find any weakneses in our bots.
His needs a few tweaks and adjustments his motors, were geting too hot so i think he is changeing them out .He riped the center out of a Squishy wheel so we had to mod those as well. Ive put some new red leds Aaron gave me in offset. They look pretty good where ive placed them the ones i had were so dim you couldnt even see them .
So far its driveing well and im geting good milage out of the 3600 pack Aaron made up.
This should be a reliable tough little robot and is fun to drive its a litte wierd driveing upside down but is still controlable and sometimes gets a nice rocking spin up when in a full body spin.

Very cool! If you could have put a tail on it it would look identical to a sting ray. ! _________________ ( •_•)
